RB Leipzig (H) | Post Match Thread

Spotted some posts saying 'but RBL were rubbish'. Regardless, we hammered them 7-0 even though we took our foot off the gas for 30 minutes and then played pretty much a patchwork team.

I thought the movement of Gundogan, Bernardo and KDB was not typical of what we have seen this season. They were looking to pick the ball up in tight pockets all game and playing much more quickly. The defenders were also releasing the ball much more quickly. Not sure how much these things have to do with RBL's quality or approach. I do think our improvements in this area helped to raise KDBs game as he was receiving the ball facing the goal and with the RBL defence and midfield out of structure. Disregarding the scoreline, it was my favourite team performance of the season.

How bloody good was Mahrez when he came on? As about a good a 30ish minute cameo as you could expect. He was playing Ronaldinho :)

A minor point but Rodri and his passing with his back to play on the edge of area has been ropey the last couple of months. Caveat: I think he has been our best player this season behind Haaland.

And to think I use to cheer on English sides over Johnny foreigners, Northern sides over southern sides. and north west sides over north east.

Now of course I rather cut off my knob with a plastic knife than support most other clubs. Especially the shithouse nine.
You know I was of the same persuasion in my youth but decades of doing this and all of a sudden we are doing it and we are vilified by match commentators in every European game. So now hope every English team goes out early. Always upsets me to this day that they never bothered to show our cup win in Vienna but instead the FA cup reply at the swamp.

This made me laugh. When you look at his fifth goal you see Akanji throwing his arms in the air as well. Love little things like that.

I don't want to hear you guys ever complain about refs again, What clown

Arsenal has been so far behind us and the top 3 or 4 clubs for so long that you have not watched many Manchester city games have you, You come on here giving the billy big bollocks about your club and City like we are main rivals,

The truth is you are still a Leicester city to us, one season wonder that has not finished the job off yet and won the title, BOY Arsenal fans have become lunatics, they think they are the real deal and have never been away from the big boys, All arsenal have done so far is talk the talk ? come back in 5 years' time and put the medals on the table and we can talk

Goals change the course of games, and when the first two goals are dubious, it's going to affect how the rest of the match plays out. If Leipzig could've kept a clean sheet until the break and Ederson had been shown the red card, who knows what might have happened.

Let me make this clear: City are a WAY better team. They are going to win this fixture 99 out 100 times, especially at the Etihad. But they shouldn't have received those favors from the referee. Leipzig were denied any real shot at this game because of him.

We saw how Milan and Inter went through by digging in and playing ultra defensively (albeit against worse teams). Had a similar referee been in charge of their games, they wouldn't have had a chance.
Such refereeing performances bring the game into a state of disrepute. I don't think it's in City's best interest to win like this either.

In short: Congrats on your advancement. Massive performance. But I don't want to hear you guys ever complain about refs agai

You won't have to hear us complaining about refs again if you stick to your own team's forums

Hahahahaha

What did I just read!!!!!

Jealous Diarrhoea dressed up with false praise.

Not one City fan gives two fucks about your biased unhealthy opinion. I forgot Arsenal existed until this season.

So why don’t you stop fishing for people to con. You are nothing new, nothing original and just like your club will disappear after this one season wonder especially if you manage the annual end of season collapse.

Preaching to city fans hahahaha…you are not in our league fam! Now be a good little gunner and fuck off. Fooling no one on here.

Please stay on the forum and post more . Can't wait to see you meltdown even more as the season draws to a close.

The penalty was soft & I'd be pissed if it was awarded against us, BUT it was VAR who spotted the handball & advised the ref to look. The defender's arm was outstretched & the headed ball brushed his arm, albeit unintentionally. By the unfair letter of the law, it's a penalty. How is that the Ref's fault? It's the laws of the game that need looking at again.

How was Haaland's second goal "dubious"? KDB shot & hit the crossbar & Haaland was on hand to head in the rebound, so again what was "dubious" about that goal?

As for Ederson, yes his tackle was rash, but the ball clearly brushed the top of his shin. There were also two defenders beyond him, not to mention the player alongside the Leipsig player who got clattered. The Ref saw no issues & neither did VAR. Even if Ederson had missed the ball, the worst he'd have got was a foul awarded against him & a yellow card.

The Ref wasn't unduly lenient & nor did he favour City, especially because the penalty & Ederson challenge were adjudicated by VAR, & the Ref was guided by their advice. So are you saying VAR were in on last night's travesty too?

I'll say this as politely as I can... Go fuck yourself you bitter Tarquin twat! We batter Leipsig 7-0 & you have the utter gall to come onto a City forum claiming our victory was littered with favour toward City & we were essentially lucky because we had a bent referee?

Mate, have you actually heard yourself? :-/
There are not enough likes available for this response. Great post mate.

I think it has dawned on a lot of gunners that City will make the run in as tough as possible.

That’s what happens when your club has not competed for 20 seasons. No metal, no balls.

Yesterdays demolishing of RB has scared a lot of Arsenal fans. We are coming for you!

I was impressed and thought we were great but then I realised that bagging five might be an achievement at any other time but not in a season when Rashford has been even more sensational than normal.

Fuck off knobhead. Have you forgotten the clear penalty we were denied in the first leg? Of course. As for last night was it a soft penalty? Yes, but they do get given. Did any fan or player appeal for it? No, so out of our hands ( No pun intended.)

The Ederson incident? A tussle for the ball. It was never a red card anyway as he didn't deny a clear goalscoring opportunity as he was a fair way from goal and surrounded by defenders. We didn't need any help from anybody and I guarantee we would have beaten them with ten men, albeit it with more of a struggle.

You better hope you win the title this season. You have taken the league by surprise this season and are playing exceptional football. By our standards we have been off it and are having a transitional season....yet you can't shake us off and are still only five points clear. Next season we'll be stronger and teams will put eleven men behind the ball when they play you like they do to us.

You're lucky to still have Arteta as the majority of you were calling for his head not long ago. Your fanbase are shite as is your letter writing club.

Great performance from the lads.

One match at a time. Let’s not think too much about the result, except for gaining confidence.

It was a shit or bust week for us. Lose all three and our season was as good as over. Thankfully we've won two, hopefully it will be three on Saturday night and we carry on.
