After being under East German rule for so long they must be just happy to have their freedoms back.

I doubt any of their current players remember the DDR given that the wall came down 34 years ago & reunification happened 3 years later.
I passed 3 of their entourage out running earlier in RBL training tops on the Bridgewater Canal towpath. Not sure if they were players, coaching staff or backroom staff but they gave me a friendly "good morning" as we passed.
