reading tickets selling fast {merged}

The mystery is why have 15,000 seasoncard holders not bought tickets.

We had this back at Maine Rd too. The gates for Cup games are half that for League crowds, and evidently half the seasoncard holders aren't turning up.

Perhaps they just can't afford to. £15 isn't much, but factor travel costs and it could be

I don't really believe that, but I can't think of any explanation as to why this is.

Well it isn't 15k but I know 2 S/card holders in the Family Stand who can only really make Saturday matches so you can imagine what a season they've had!

Not read all the thread...
But perhaps the club should start putting a couple of cup games in with the season ticket like Arsenal and Chelsea...if not drawn at home they are credited the next season.

15000 season ticket holders is a hell of a lot of people, wonder why they havnt botherd or if there just leaving it untill the death, i wonder if the club will ask for at least one fa cup game to have been attended in the criateria for a semi or final ticket

bloody good idea.

3 tickets in the 3rd tier @ £37.50
cant argue with that

This is what he just said

Here's my thoughts on seasoncard relocation:

Firstly, and above everything else, seasoncard holders have (apart from those on value seasoncards) chosen the area of the stadium in which their normal seats are located.

There are many factors that go into that choice, be it the cost, the view, the atmosphere, the facilities, the neighbours etc. It is unlikely (apart from "fancying a change") that those factors are different for cup games compared to premiership games.

My seat is in the bottom half of CBL3 level with the edge of the penalty area, and given a scenario where I have to move, and there being no cost implication, I am happy to move to EL3, the rear of EL2 or CBL2. I get frustrated with seats in an end, as I find it hard to judge the flight of the ball for most of the match, and I don't handle standing for very long any more.

I think that there are other fans who have to relocate that have found that the areas that they have been relocated to, don't "fit in" to that area and have ended up enjoying the match less than normal, and sometime spoiling the enjoyment of those around them.

If the club is to keep a price differential for different areas of the ground, I would say that the club ought to cap the price of the tickets for relocates to the price of their normal area.
The club should also endeavour to keep their stand closure and relocation policy mindful of the type of fan that is being moved, and allow them to move to an equivalent area of the stadium.

For example: FA cup games where South Stand seasoncard holders are relocated, that they have the opportunity to either move round to the same level of Colin Bell in the corner, or to the singing sections of the East stand for those that want the banter with the away fans at no increase in cost (as the end level 1 seats are the cheapest in the stadium) or to the north stand who want the perspective from behind the goal.

If the club feels that for operational reasons they want to close sections of the ground, that they close the second and third tiers of the Colin Bell and move the season card holders to the east stand. This will keep those that want the stadium looking full on TV happy, and allow those that are relocated, an immediate location to move to, rather than, as has happened for Reading, a move to an area they consider unsuitable, or a wait to see if a suitable area is reopened.

The idea of filling the stadium from the bottom to create a better atmosphere, really only works if the gaps are filled with like minded fans. I'm not the stand and wave an inflatable type, and for the villa match I was frustrated by having a small child waving a flag in front of me, as I couldn't see the play. In the same way, I'm sure that I'd frustrate those in front of me, if I were to be relocated to one of the more "atmospheric" areas of the stadium, due to my wanting to watch the game rather than do the poznan!

Had I not already bought my CBL3 usual season card seat online as soon as tickets went on sale, I'd have had a dilemna as to what to do about tickets for the match. I was relocated to NL1 by the club, before the deadline that the club had set (Monday 17:30). I was seriously considering not attending the game, even though I had paid for it, as I couldn't really afford the price increase to move to level 2. If the club had kept the price of the tickets the same for relocates, or opened EL3 straight away, I wouldn't have had to spend a lot of time on the phone, trying to get things sorted out.

As always YMMV

Maybe club will use selling criteria like the following to start the panic of the season
Ticket holders who don't attend cup matches.
16th march All home cup games plus 4000 points
18th march all home cup games plus 3000 points
19TH march all home cup games plus 2000 points
21st march 6000 plus points

22nd march 5000 plus points
Etc etc

How the comfy would panic

I relocated from the CB L3 on saturday to L2. I`ve now had 4 text messages ref seating for Reading, one on saturday, one yesterday, and two today so fuck knows where I`ll be sat.

Humm... Think about what you have put. If these none attending season ticket holders (Me being one) dont attend as you say, then why would they panic? It would mean they wouldnt get a ticket anyway as they dont attend, so it wouldnt change a thing would it.
What winds me up is, if you go to every cup game then great and fair play to you. but I have had a season ticket for fecking years so I have earnt my points over the years and that gives me enough points to be able to pick and chose which cup games I want to attend. If City get to a final and I have enough points to get a ticket then I think I have earned the right to have one regardless of if I have been to "every game" or not! I will go to the final if we get there, why shouldnt I? But have not been to an FA cup game yet. Europa cup I have been to two games but will go to the final of that if we get there too.
I pay me season ticket every year, in fact I pay for two and have done for years, so yeh I do feel "comfy" with my choices. As someone said earlier, I will wait until tomorrows result to decide if I'm going to the game Sunday and the game Thursday as I'm sure many others will.

Because it will make my mind up which game to go to. Not doing both, so if we get spanked tomorrow then I will go Sunday, if not then I'll give it a miss and go Thursday instead.

thought that myself but dont want blues turning up in the wrong stands and that, sunday is going to be a fantastic day and we want it to go well.

Its turned into a joke to be honest, 90 mins away from Wembley, by the way I am a SC holder and can't go to the Semi anyway, and we can't sell 44500 tickets. Fu@k me, forget a bigger ground, I travel 200 mile rd trip every game and if can't fill it with just fans from Manchester for a game like this well its poor to say the least. I have relocated from 308 and was disappointed we didn't open the 3rd tier but you can now see why we have some good marketing people. We may think we can sell out week in week out but this proves we can't.
Funny old thing if we get to say Dublin we may have 90k fans that attend everyweek.
