real ale

Marble Arch is fantastic for real ales
I used to work 2 minutes from that place, in there every night after work!
not been in there for about 3 years now, miss the place. In fact i might go after the match on Thursday

I'm a fairly new convert to real ales. The best I've had recently was Thwaites Wainwright, which somebody mentioned earlier.

Probably a stupid question this, but can anybody explain to me the difference between a best bitter and a real ale? Are they one and the same?

To put it simply....they somehow kill off bitter whilst they are putting it into the barrel (maybe using chemicals?)....real ale is just left to it's own devicies (i guess??).....hope thats correct?

Nice drink this, and brewed not too far from your doorstep either!
Theres some great ales from here (http://ulverstonbrewingcompany.co.uk/beers)which is even nearer to me, Ulverston the birthplace of Stan Laurel, hence the beers are named after Laurel and Hardy films.
