Real Dilemma

I've got it on 'good authority' that the current manager of the team at the top of the Dutch league 'loves English football' .
To be in charge of a team at the top of the league this guy might be worth 'looking at' ?

This thread is definitely not a wind up or April fool.

I have had a few off thread chats with bluemooners and others about the JM/RM situation and in truth I have never been fully convinced by any of the propositions suggested.

Perhaps the use of the word SACKED has got people too focussed on us already having employed JM and for that I apologise.

I was told quite categorically that prior to RM joining City there was a tentative agreement with JM which remained in place until quite recently.

The Owner and the Board have lost patience with JM and made his representatives aware of certain conditions needing to be fulfilled to maintain the pre-contract agreement (i dont know if that was verbal or written).

Now here is my take on things. Mourinho and City were in bed and RM was aware that there was a small chance he would leave in summer. Mourinho has pushed his luck and chanced his arm making noises off and trying to generate interest from Spain and I believe Chelsea.

The board have had enough and reflected on how his behaviour bodes for the future and pulled any offer.

It could of course just be part of the negotiations and bargaining but I doubt it.

JM at City is now 10/1 against IMO.
 
Good news. If we got Mourinho he might win us a couple of trophies a bit quicker than Mancini will but then he'd get bored and swan off somewhere else, we want a long term manager.

No doubting your info but why would JM need to do his bargaining via the media? All it takes is one of his advisors to pick up the phone to Madrid or Chelsea and ask the question. "Do you want JM to manage your club next season"?
 
I don't personally have any doubt that City have been courting Jose with regard to next season, or that he's been expressing strong interest. But even if it's gone as far as a verbal agreement to join us in principle, that's a long way from it being a certainty that he'll actually come here.

A deal is never a done deal until it's properly signed and sealed. There are loads of things that could happen to scupper this one (if, indeed, there are actually grounds to describe it as a deal).

Equally, if City believe he's sniffing around other vacancies and have told him that we're pulling out of the deal, that could also very easily be a negotiating ploy. It's extremely common for the parties to come back to the table after one pretends to walk away.

So even if people have information that's valid as a today's date, it really counts for very little in the overall scheme of things. In football, as in the real world, circumstances change - often very quickly.
 
I see no reason to doubt your words, fbloke. In fact, it would seem like sound negotiating on City's behalf to have certain clauses regarding Mourinho. He is after all a bit of a loose cannon.

I genuinely hope he doesn't come here and we can let Bobby get on with the job. Let him buy in the summer and we can start next season with a side that Mancini wants and not a make-do team full of Hughes's signings.

So what you're saying is that we can sack someone with whom we have a verbal agreement with in the future! And the reason for scrapping the contract is due to reasons that have been known for over 12 months already?

Or are we just being prepared for the inevitable "Mourinho isn't coming here after all"... which is what I've believed since the rumours first started up.

Beyond caring anymore, find all the speculation rather tedious.

See what happens in the summer although it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if neither Bob or Jose were our manager come August, typical City....

To be honest if this guy actually came to us he would dump us to go to Madrid within two seasons.Its quite laughable that people presume he will turn us into world beaters within 1 year.

His career path will be as follows-Madrid,Rags,Portuegese national manager

Lol that would be typical City. Personally I reckon that's a more likely outcome than Mourinho coming as manager
 
So we've sacked a manager we haven't even employed yet? That must be a first, even for us.

Anyway, Mourinho can get to fuck, the attention whore.
 
Is it feasible that City are well aware that the speculation is intensifying about Jose taking over and seeing as both us and Inter have important ends to season we are now going to attempt to dampen said speculation ahead of him taking over in the summer?

Yours is a hunch based on your original post saying it is what you believe will be the outcome.

At no stage have you caveated that by saying this is formed due to information you have been passed by someone who has a good knowledge of the situation (this may indeed be the case, though I would tell you to be dubious with your own sources for info).

I don't wish to sound conceited, but I most definitely do know certain things which have gone on.

My info re Jose is updated as and when I get it. City have been kept in the dark by Jose for the last ten months, so no, nothing definitive as yet.

I agree, all this does nothing to improve our lot in terms of achieving top four.

But maybe the players should take a closer look at themselves, before us as fans start to think we are main impacting on results.

They did not ask about Hiddink's summer situation for no good reason.
