Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

You don't need to - I was celebrating just like you were at the whistle.

But if that had been two other sides that you were watching, knowing that we were playing the winner next week, you'd hardly be quaking in your boots, would you?

Some are happy to take defensive credit for the misses by Vinicius Jr and Bellingham (for some reason left wide open in the box) - as neither are included in your shots on target stat - but others look at those and realise that you won't always get away with them.

It is possible to celebrate the win and be objective about the performance at the same time.
My objectivity is numeric, 8 shots on target v 1 on target is utterly dominant in the key areas, you can go all TNT and call it differently, that’s your prerogative

Mcmanamanamanamanaman was moaning that RM had loads of players injured. I agree they had some injuries, a few more than us. However, RM still had a billion euros worth of talent to choose from. They are the richest club in the world after all. Great result for City. I don't think we played our best, but we still beat the most entitled bunch of wanxers in world football in their back garden with the roof shut.
They brought on Guler, Brahim and Endrick on off the bench. This time last year we were almost having to get Pep in a kit we had so many injuries.

That article is 100% accurate depicting the last night game and more broadly, the issues we've been having this season. If the opposing team hits certain level of intensity and aggression our game control literally goes out of window. I've re-watched the game this afternoon and I downgraded our performance 15-20% than I thought of it last night. When pushed, this team just doesn't have the MF. Basically the repeat of Arsenal game, but we scored two goals and didn't concede late equalizer.
And the article makes some positive pointe in the end, if all of The Guardian articles are like this one, I would resume reading their football section.
Which Arsenal game?
The one at their place when they were at full strength and on top form where we took it to em and were unlucky not to come away with all three points? That one?

Immense performs from Dias and Gvardiol.
Well done lads!

Love this pairing (and Nunes+O’Reilly as a back4)!

We’ve only lost 1 PL/CL game that Dias+Gvardiol have played together as a centre back pairing (I think they’ve played together 29 times over the two comps now).

I was looking for some centre back action
And what I found, Ruben Dias and Gvardiol

doesnt get talked about enough how much of a complete psychopath this guy is.
He is a sick man who needs treatment, or at best, a thug who has no place on a football pitch; it is time to neutralize him.

By "taking it to them" you mean 32% possession, one corner and 4 shot attempts the whole game. Ok!

Worst take on our win by a mile. Maybe 2 miles

think he means the one where we were ahead after 9 minutes then tried to defend our lead (hence the stats) and would have taken all 3 points if not for a desperate late ball over the top in the 93rd minute finally catching us out.

I have to say that after madrid's first goal I completely lost hope and thought we were in for a beating, and I bet that's exactly how madrid fans felt when we were peppering them at the etihad in 2021/22, missing sitter after sitter, and they still manage to sneak their way out of a spanking with a modest 4-3 loss (and eventually winning the tie) through a series of bullshit undeserved goals, so it's nice to be on the side that converts its chances for once

Ok, crossed purposes - I've never disputed whether we deserved to win, or if I have, I posted clumsily.

Irrespective of the result, I've been talking about our porous defence, thinking of harder battles to come.

As for TNT - I always mute them and listen to the radio commentary. I don't understand those who continually moan about them, whilst continuing to listen to them. I don't watch pre- or post-match crap, other than the coach interviews. The very thought of McCoist gets on my tits.

I'd argue he'd have a completely different attitude here playing under Pep at this club. He'd arguably be the best player in the world playing for us.

It's Madrid. They turn players into absolute cunts. Same with the rags. They have the arrogance drummed into them as soon as they walk through the door.

Anyway, fuck em, it's our night. Get the fuck in!

Bellingham doesn't have the attributes to be the best player in the world under 10 Pep's, arguable or otherwise. Attitude is not his only limitation.
