Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Real absolute hated they got us in the draw. (versus Sporting) but their manager set up a specific tactical plan and worked to that even tho he had quite some big names missing. you could bet MBappe or Rodrygo would have scored vs this City defence tonight.

what Pep did or planned for this game, well sadly that will require a big analysis. poor in defence, midfield wide open and overall very poor in attacking patterns and chance creation. absolute shitshow overall.

and this a Real dropped off from their 2/3 year ago level just like us.

how many games Arbeola managed in CL? 3-4?

this is what I am saying, lesser and lesser managers can get the better of Pep. Frank, Carrick first game in charge, this latest Fores coach who just arrived etc.

was crucial how we react in 2nd half, can we pull it back to 3-1 or 3-2 maybe. but no, still lost 3-0 thanks to a Donnarumma pen save. not good enough.

Pep is on the decline imo tactically. he may not have the players anymore to make us as dominant serial winners. but sure as hell with these tactics better squad would be limited too.
two years in a row not getting into CL QF stage is bad for such an expensive highly paid squad we have. it would be just as horrible for Real, PSG, Bayern.

general feeling was before game that City are favourites in this tie mainly due to Real's problems and missing players.
I hoped myself we pay back to them in return for last year sending us home from the competition way too early. but they can do it again even with Arbeola instead of Ancelotti who was a CL expert. Arbeola with about 3 CL games in his career as manager.

might get pelters for it but if someone wants to give us £100m for Rodri let them have him. hes still a good player but 30 in the summer and he’s dropping off like casemeiro did at 30/31

He'll go on a free next Summer. Nobody is taking that risk. He's 5 yards off the pace.

Just unfeckinbelievable. The worst Real Madrid team in living memory and we were 3 down at half time.

My wife is more a full back than NOR, and as for that lanky Italian streak of piss in net, well God help us.

Savinho was his usual guaranteed dogshit, whilst Semenyo might as well have not been there.

And then there is Haaland, just how fuckin ineffective is he. He is just absolutely 100% shite. He offers less than nothing. Every time I see his name in the line up you know we are playing with 10 men.

I've seen some pitiful and unexplainable City performances in many decades of watching City, but Jesus, that was the most dreadful I've ever seen.

Just WTF must have Cherki and Marmoush have been thinking have have as they watched that dross.

In short, Guardiola, it's time to go.
Give it a fcukin rest, it’s time for you to go

I don’t believe it will drastically improve us - I think we’re in decline regardless - but I’m ready for a post-Pep City. Success or no success, I am no longer dreading the day he leaves. The man that we brought in doesn’t exist any more. This is not the same guy.

Well for me that was inexcusable and against a depleted Real Madrid side, after the excellent performance at Newcastle on Saturday, Pep can’t help but completely mess about again and dismantle it. Why did RAN not start? He’s been one of our best performers recently. O’Reilly has been one of our best midfielders so he shoves him back at left back. Zero creativity in midfield with both Foden and Cherki on the bench. Khusanov should be playing at centre back instead of Dias who has been very poor for a while. Reijnders offers absolutely nothing and if I was Marmoush I would be handing in a transfer request in the summer as Pep clearly doesn’t like him. Yet again we revert back to pedestrian football, it’s boring and we offer nothing. Pep was the best once and I maintain we will never reach those incredible levels again that we saw under him. However, it’s clear he’s lost his way and this isn’t a recent thing. It’s not acceptable at all and how anyone can defend this is beyond me. I’ll still be there next week cheering the blues on but because of Pep and his woeful team selection and tactics, I think we are sadly done.
Foden has done nothing this season. He would not have changed the game. Pep is the best in the world when we have the best players in the world. We dont have them now.

A real chastening night. No positives at all.
Terrible team selection and set up. And dreadful performances, pretty much to a man. No fight, no spirit, no leadership. Nothing from the sidelines.
Rudderless.

Some shockers tonight...NOR, Savinho, Rodri was pretty guff too
Decent start from us in the first 15 minutes as well
They've been pish for weeks and we gift them an utterly ridiculous opening goal, that gets the crowd going and we collapse again, just like last season, in the 1st half....3 goals again and game over
I do feel that was mostly on Pep though with that bizarre team selection
Our corners were rank rotten too.
Haaland needs a spell on the bench, offers zip all in these big games and was moping around the pitch.
