Cherki must be baffled. Sat on the bench most weeks while there's players being picked that couldn't lace his boots

As for Marmoush, he's a handy player but I don't imagine he would have too much joy as a regular starter alongside players who create nothing like Savinho, Reijnders etc..

The Newcastle game was an anomaly.

Unless we get players in that can create, then the likes of Haaland and Marmoush will be feeding on scraps up front.
 
Really poor team, really poor set up and frankly awful performance. Haaland, O’Reilly, Guehi, Donnarumma, Savinho, Semenyo all dreadful.

Madrid didn’t have to work for anything. We picked an attacking side and barely had a shot. The amount of times Doku hit good balls in and there was no one attacking them.

The substitution of Reijnders made no sense. Cherki should have been on much earlier.

Astonishing lack of hunger and fight for such a huge game.
 
Not great to say the least.

Set-up just didn't work at all. Lots of attacking players and nobody to get the ball to them in any decent positions. I really don't know why Guardiola decided to go with this in an away leg.

Even worse was the half-time sub. I totally agree with taking Savinho off but with all the attacking talent on the bench (Nunses, Marmoush, Cherki, Foden etc) he chooses to bring on Reijnders. Absolutely baffling.

Rodri was totally isolated in midfield as Bernardo was pushed up but he did his best. Savinho and O'Reilly were both very poor. Bernardo ran around a lot but aimlessly. Haaland hardly ever saw the ball. Doku was the only one who ever really tried to create something, though Semenyo (after a poor first half) looked better when moved wide right but was then subbed. Khusanov was Khusanov in that he was reasonably solid defensively but offered little on the ball. Dias and Guehi have both had better games.

All in all a bit of a mess and we are perhaps fortunate to be only 3 down.

Nowhere near good enough and needs a massive rethink for the 2nd leg. We're not totally out of it yet but it's going to need a minor miracle for us to progress.

Yeah I said in Savinho thread it's horses for courses but no way to play all 3. Cherki, Foden, Reijnders even Bernardo there should always be a 10 behind Haaland, and semenyo just doesnt have the touch, control, passing or short space play.

Play the players that don't deserve to start a final. Starting with fucking Haaland. He doesn't turn up for Finals when he's in form so I dread to think what this shite version will play like

And yet we’ve spent close on £500 million in the last year. If he’s only successful with the best players in the world, like you’re suggesting then he’s clearly not the genius everyone thinks he is.
 
I don't usually put losses on pep but this wasn't good, Doku was the only creative outlet all game and left isolated, nunes and RAN sat down, erling continues to struggle, hope the gaffer's uploaded all this for the home game, we'll see

Arsenal are winning the lot if they beat us next week. The confidence they will get from beating us at Wembley.

I don’t really know what to say about this City team. At times this season, I thought yeah we’re looking a decent team. Cherki was growing into the team, Nico was beginning to look a player, Haaland was still scoring. Since the new year, although we had a good run, it hasn’t been pretty.

Semenyo and Haaland together has to stop. Two players who can’t control a football shouldn’t be playing so close to each other, it will never work. Haaland needs to be around technicians running onto their balls.
 
We need a new direction,it’s ok saying we need to move five players on and replace them but with pep in charge things will not change,think we are becoming the next Man U I am afraid

Won’t happen, if they have Bellingham or Mbappé back. It’s gonna be a horrible aggregate score and this pathetic performance gives me no hope whatsoever
 
I agree with what Sam Lee just said. In these games you keep it tight in the first leg. We did the opposite and played wide open in the midfield.

We invited them onto us. Crazy stuff.
 
The usual mob out in force tonight following a loss.

The bottom line tonight is we had about 5/6 chances and didn’t take any of them.

Those cunts took theirs.

At this level if that happens you get beat.

I will say though that Haaland was unacceptably poor and has been bang average for a long time now. Not sure what we do about that tbh.
