Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Where to start. It was Spurs like.

That lineup backfired big time. Playing Sav wide right and Semenyo just inside together made no sense. NOR inverting from LB with Bernardo pressing high was suicidal.

Hated the body language from a lot of them too. Rodri especially.

Haaland Has become a major issue. When he is off form like every season after xmas! he has become more and more useless. In the first 10 mins the ball flashed across goal 3 times. He wasn't near any of them. His movements have become non existent.

Winning nothing anytime soon. It was great whilst it lasted though

The worst thing was some of our lads looking absolutely terrified while the others looked like they didn't give a shit.
But why would they look terrified? We've already won in Madrid this season and are playing better than we were at the time. - Unless they were terrified of facing Pep after deviating from his precious system or making a mistake.

Starting with only 2 midfielders is wild against a 4-4-2. O'Reilly being effectively a midfielder and left back at the same time left us vulnerable down that side as seen. Only Bernardo and Rodri in the middle, no steel. So we decide to bring Reijnders on. Subs made no difference. Big deficit to overcome. Nonetheless still have to be behind the lads from the first to the last minute next week. Best part was Donnarumma's penalty save.

Pep went for an attacking lineup and if some of those early crosses had been converted it would have been a different story.
Cannot see us turning this around in the second leg so we can concentrate on domestic trophies.

On Pep that

Feels like he took Saturday's result and thought he was able to roll out wingers again. But it seems a bit arrogant against wounded side that was prepared and outworked them.

One of the few times I felt like he got it way wrong and was disappointed he was slow make any changes. It was clear O'Reilly was on stinker (not at this level yet) and he sat on hands.

Haaland should be ashamed of himself tonight. Walking pace for most of the game. Doesn't fancy the battle Vs Rudiger and won't embarrass himself by racing 1 v1 against Huijsen. If your focal point doesn't want to play the whole system fails as it's built around him. He just never made the runs or competed.
So, he's been the same for months, except for that Leeds match and scoring the penalty against Liverpool?

I'm not Pep out. I'll never be, but I do wonder if a new manager needs to figure out why we're not getting even remotely the most out of him.

I think it would be a good idea if the thread was closed for an hour after the final whistle to give people time to calm down and then talk rationally.
Why? There's far too many happy clappers in here who cannot or will not accept that Peps time is over here, handed his fucking arse again by a struggling manager or a no name. He can't help himself that's how narcissistic he is. A team in transition my fucking arse. There is next to zero bollox in that team with a few notable exceptions. The biggest fanny plays up front and seems undroppable regardless of how invisible he is and then having fucked up by starting Saviniho he compounds the mistake by subbing him for Reijnders who is an absolute ghost. Peps sideways and backwards style of play is ineffective vomit inducing football. That should be the straw that breaks the camels back. See the season out part ways in the summer. Picking up a cup along the way will make it all the easier to leave on his terms.

Corners wtf was going on Halland marked by a 5ft2 defender and just stands still. Reijnders up top at half time. 0 midfield all game. O’Reilly at left back. Totally inept from Pep. One of the greatest however his CL record has been absolutely bobbins, because he thinks he can be clever. In cup competitions, just do the basics and let your good players make the difference in the final 3rd. Even worse that was the worst Real Madrid team I have ever seen.

Line up all wrong and we know it - start your best team - pep over thinking again, lacked creativity in the final third.

I’d be amazed if we turned it around next week; really hope I’m wrong.

Schooled by the worst Real side for 25 years.

People on here trying to tell me that Arsenal are great, we are great and the PL has never been stronger. Honestly, you must have been asleep for the last decade. We’ve gone from being the best English side of all time and IMO the 2nd best club side of all time, to this and I’ve got people on here trying to tell me the objectively and subjectively that all the stats say the PL has never been stronger. All you’re doing by talking that absolute nonsense is talking down our previous sides and achievements!

Arsenal are no fucking good. Unfortunately, neither are this City side. Objectively and subjectively.

Ok. No one has been more instrumental in us winning as many trophies as we have and he set the success standard by which you are now comparing him and because he’s not meeting those incredible standards lately, he doesn’t deserve a chance to fix it so needs to be sacked. Pathetic.

Pep was the best manager in the world. Just like managers before him, he is past it. He should’ve been sacked after our ridiculously horrendous form last year. He survived with the caveat that he will be the man to turn this team around. Here we are again, with a team that shits the bed against teams like Forest, Spurs, United, Bodo, Real Madrid’s C team, and more….

Bodo would have battered Real here.
