Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

The players were poor too. They lack Ensure and intensity. No intelligence either and I haven’t seen them give the ball away so much in about 20 years.
They are playing the system he wants, what the fuck was Bernardo doing up so high when we had 4 up front, pushing Oreilly forward left us exposed on that wing, we can see it, the commentators can see it but one man can’t, his ego won’t allow him to change when it’s going wrong early, Rodri has given given up because he’s been hung out to dry with these tactics, he won’t be extending unless he knows it’s going to change. Haaland has been fucking useless for months, the Newcastle game showed how we can play without him. I can’t remember the last time he dominated a game, but he gets no service because of our tippy tappy shite, tonight yhe ball wasn’t crossed in until he had gone off the pitch and we were playing faster.

Agree with that. They had 3 chances and 3 goals in the 1st half.

We outplayed them for large chunks of the game without ever getting a decent chance.
Creating not getting and there lies the probably.
Our decision making is wank, always an extra touch or pass.
And don't get me started on corners.

We either play to Haaland strengths or we don’t play Haaland. Otherwise we are effectively playing with 10 every game. When will we ever learn that.
It’s obvious to us fans so why the fuck doesn’t Pep realise this and why is the club scouting and buying mid table players like Rjeinders, Ait Nouri and Semenyu instead of elite players.

What was the actual plan today? From what I could see it was piss about with it, give it away then jog back.

Our best chance of the game was a fucking tackle.

Didn't understand the line-up and formation ? Also, not playing both our fullbacks who were both informed and been playing really well, makes you sick for the City fans over there

I’m sure the happy clappers on 93:20 pod will put us all right!
I'm generally in the clapper camp tbh. And mostly accept that you take the mad with the smooth with Pep. But that was a bonkers one. We have spent two seasons doing ok by clogging up the midfield and all of a sudden we are trying to kill Madrid away without one.

Pep believes in the players so much O’Riely and Khosovnov have not played fullbacks for months then you throw in Guehi and Denton first time at Madrid! Then silva roaming about Rodri on his own! Sometimes I don’t understand pep that midfield got done at Bodo glint pep either blind or blinkered or he thinks let’s try it again!

They weren't shit. They just didn't have their stars. The guys out there worked hard and ran City defenders all over the place. It's not always about the names. Effort means everything. Look at Bodo. And they got stunning quality, too, from one player.

Valverde did us with quality that’s about it. That side Madrid put out tonight isn’t a good side. We should be giving them a good hiding, tactics is the reason we didn’t.

So same situation as against the dippers 7 (?) years ago.
Score early, get a second just before the break which will be allowed this time due to VAR, and pulverise them in the second half. It's easy when you look at it.
My prediction is 2-0 with a few missed chances and an element of our support can push the plucky losers line.

Ridiculous team selection away in Madrid. No way could we win the tie tonight but we could lose it. The line up should have had a much more solid look about it. Four attackers, three of whom were completely impotent on the night was a very poor decision. And the Sub at HT did nothing to alter the shape of the team just a change in personnel, baffling.

Very deflating tonight.

Can't believe what I've just watched.

It's a manager that's after giving us everything and this is the end of the road. We need a change and fresh ideas.
Pep being clever was working for 10 minutes, then we got exposed. Nobody knew what they were supposed to be doing after O'Reilly got caught out.

Trent?

I prefer Stoke on….

Reply to the poster in the prematch thread, I was taking the piss if you didn’t realise.

That sand wedge at Newcastle has a lot to answer for
It's not his fault really at the end of the day

I blame Pep's massive obsession with playing the guy

I can't believe am saying this but the best thing to happen this year was Savinho being out with injury to save Pep with trying to horse horn him in
