Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

rest of the month is still very hard.

WHU away to just stay alive in PL.
Real 2nd leg, trying to overturn quite a shit 1st leg. near impossible. but bare minimum is win at home and not get beaten home/away too that would be really poor. at least exit CL with a win.
Carabao final vs Arsenal. this can be anything, two recent cup finals bring very bad memories vs rags and Palace.

3 bad results and 3 competitions can be taken off the quadruple list.

I am already worried of how Pep will try to be too clever vs Arteta only to backfire big time.

I'm pissed off, we tried our nuts off at the end of last season to qualify for the CL and then we seemingly just casually throw all that work away in 20 minutes of sheer madness. Real Madrid would have been happy with a draw tonight and we somehow have given them a bye into the next round. Crazy and complacent from Pep. On a par with the ludicrous team selection against Chelsea in that CL final.
Have we actually been any better this season?

I’m not sure we have. I just can’t see this side dominating anything going forward.

So we are basically as bad as Spurs.

Could not understand how some on here thought we would walk it, have they actually been and watched us this season.

We are in transition and it shows in the up and down performances.

Also we have the worlds best striker that has stopped scoring and a previous footballer of the year who looks like a rank amateur at this moment in time.

The FA Cup is what we should be looking to win, but that will take a small miracle to do.

A big issue: the steel and force in midfield

Tonight, we started with pretty much just 2 midfielders: Rodri and Bernardo

And whilst these are experienced players and have won it all with us already, 2 is never enough.

We had De Bruyne, we had Gundogan, we had David Silva, we had Yaya Toure.

Now we've got Foden, Cherki, Reijnders etc. And whilst these are top players when they show it, are they really going to win us matches singlehandedly like the above did? It showed tonight.

This team should have the calibre of Rice and Wirtz in it.........can only assume it's a planned drop off in quality before we find out the 115 outcome and we need fill the new stand.........this team ain't going to do that. The core will stay, but the tourists will get restless.

So many potential future football coaches on here tonight

Barely a dozen worthwhile posts on this thread 33 pages in

If many think they’ve just watched our worst ever CL performance, then they need a serious talking to

All so quick to pile on the bandwagon telling everyone what’s wrong

Some of the dogs abuse on here is just pathetic

If you can’t take it , fuck off to Stretford

The season is about to fall apart...just woke up to this...shocked doesn't cover it...fucking Valverde first half hat-trick? Were we on fucking Prozac or something before the game?
Pathetic capitulation..I just knew we'd shit the bed....all this complacency about their missing players.. guaranteed they'd be 1000% up for it so this was our response...
West Ham will be foaming at the mouth

Basically we lost because we made four schoolboy defensive errors three of which which were punished by Real Madrid. At the other end of the pitch we failed to capitalise on some good openings and were denied by one very good reflex save. Otherwise the game was fairly balanced.

Biggest blue badge coming your way in the post.

We don’t need to replace the greatest manager of all time. We need better players.

Biggest mistake we have ever made is not getting Declan Rice. We need to find someone as close as possible to that energy and drive in midfield.

We need two proper fast full backs that can defend and stop crosses.

And bin off Savinho and Doku and buy the two best wingers that money can persuade to move regardless of cost.

Do at least two of those three transfers and we win stuff again next season.
Look mate Pep is certainly not the greatest manager of all time in the CL, he shits the bed the vast majority of times in this competition since he left Barca, and tonight was another disasterclass.

I don’t think it’s understanding, it’s their ability. We have no Aguero, Silva, KDB, Vinny, Yaya, Zab, Fern level players anymore.
Yep. We are a shadow of our former self. How many of that team tonight would usurp any of those players. Or Sane/Sterling/Mahrez for that matter. Add in some frankly barmy tactics and it's hardly a surprise we're not winning the biggest prizes (which we wont this season, no chance).

I’m not reading the thread because it will be filled with knee jerk bollocks but I thought overall it was a fairly even game. Their finishing was better and they got all the bounces. I think if Nico would have scored one of those two we’d have a real chance of going through. As it is it will take a monumental result but I haven’t given up.
