Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

I don't think the lineup or system was right but Real did an excellent job of playing through us with crisp passing and we did a wonderful job of letting them do so.

We had no energy off the ball. The first was criminal but can happen. The second was madness. We let them run at us, and just gave them the space to do so. Then, when the ball deflects through to Valverde he has so much time and space. At this level it was absurd to see.

What Pep wanted was O'Reilly in central areas on the ball, allowing us to attack through the middle then find space out wide. Semenyo playing as a 10 to profit from space off Haaland. Real just sat off and made it so hard for that to be effective. They also made sure they particularly stacked the midfield and right side to deal with O'Reilly and Doku. On our right it meant Khusanov had a lot of the ball but they knew he would do nothing with it.

Nunes would have made us so much more effective as Real couldn't have afforded him the same space. But Pep was concerned about Vinicius so didn't want to risk it.

We were poor undoubtedly, but Real absolutely nailed it tonight. Whether it's a great side or not, they played a blinder and we were miles off it.
Mate, we lost 3 0

At least enough to not prioritize football over many, many other more important things.

And honestly i could give two shits how "clever" you presume I'm striving to be.
*Couldn't. Also, you gave two shits enough to reply twice ;)

However, It doesn't make you better to look down on people.

fuck me put the toys back in the pram and your dummy back in your mouth. NOR has been one of the best players this season in lb and cm. We were piss poor today to a man but reading dross like this is shameful.
He’s got form for talking absolute shite, undercover rag I reckon

Silly me
I totally forgot we have the Devine right to win it every season

After all , it’s such a predictable game isn’t it?

Just be fucking thankful we have won it ffs
A devine right to win it every season? We've won it once! Your comment would be valid if we had won it maybe 3 times

Jesus fucking Christ.

Nonsensical. The fact is that 5 of those "prime" players weren't there tonight. If he wasn't performing WITH those players then you might have a point.
No my point is that if Alvarez had played up front we'd have won the treble. We were the best team in the world. Haaland is not a good fit for this team we play better more attractive football without him.

As someone who has been at every away game in Europe this season (including Bodo) and now just back to the hotel in Madrid (before I am accused of being a 'diabolical' fan) - I have to say that was utterly shite.

Pep takes the ultimate responsibility. We should name the new North Stand after him - but I am just getting a little too irritated by the over-thinking in big games, and the last few seasons of slow, dull football - is it time?

He has the right to decide in my book - but some new thinking would be welcome.

We simply collapse when transitioning to defended when opponents start to counter - I just don't get it. Pep often struggles with what to do in the middle of the park in CL away games - from Monaco to Porto to today – and he did today with just Rodri on his own.

And if we play Haarland – then we need to make sure we get some crosses in (other than the first 5 mins). And as for corners…

It all just went wrong today…and despite a pretty below-par turn out in the away end, some great effort, especially from some young lads, to sing throughout – credit to them and everyone else who made the trip out.

Anyway, on we go, and roll on the trip to the worst away end at West Ham on Saturday...

More attractive - yes
More effective- no

Marmoush is a brilliant player but he’ll be off first chance he gets same as Alvarez he never gets a look in and who could blame him
Nobody is going to pay him 300k in Europe, May get similar salary in Saudi

The problem is that everyone was euphoric after Saturday's performance in Newcastle and expected the same today. Overall, we are simply too inconsistent this season. We can see glimpses of what we are capable of, but not over several matches.

So many potential future football coaches on here tonight

If many think they’ve just watched our worst ever CL performance, then they need a serious talking to

All so quick to pile on the bandwagon telling everyone what’s wrong

Some of the dogs abuse on here is just pathetic

If you can’t take it , fuck off to Stretford
Give yourself a Blue Peter badge for being a top Blue

We need to sell Haaland. absolute waste of space. People say we won the treble with him. Bollocks. We had prime Kevin, prime Bernie, prime Stones, prime Gundo, prime Eddie, prime Dias, and prime Rodri, no wonder we won it all. Even prime Grealish.
We are obviously not that team any more and Haaland adds nothing. He is in cricketing terms a flat track bully.
You are reading my mind, Pep's football had started its slow death since Erling became our only attacking option. Not the only reason, but it just collapse of all of his principles one by one.

Atentamente.

Pointy is right. Beaten on the night, take the medicine. This tie is not over Blues. Get your back bones cracked.
Be interesting to see what he does. in 2018 against liverpool in thr same position he went fucking mental and played a 3-1-5-1 or something and for 45 minutes it worked and we should have been 2-0 up

Some of the posts say more about the individual than the game tonight. I’m unsure which are real or fake, do Rags, bots, and soft arses only come out and complain on the after-match, forgetting to post and sleeping when we win?

We got beat in an away tie against one of the best teams in Europe, especially the CL. Our tactics weren't that of an away team and could be considered arrogant. We were rightly beaten by 3 decent strikes on goal.

Can we turn it around at ours? Yes, we could. Is it likely? No, it isn’t.

But I’ll still be watching ;-)

I agree. I think Haaland has been found out and wherever he goes teams will know how to play against him.
