Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Transition is a word bandies about all over football.
United have been in transition for 14 years!

Its an excuse.
It buys time.

Its not transition, its a player recruitment fuck up.
I get it, mate. You’re angry because we dropped from our usual ‘impeccable’ standards. We’ve just got to hope that we get back to those standards during this period.

Dont be a gatekeeper. Its not a nice look.

No anger in me in the slightest. Its been a blast and we knew it wouldnt last forever and thats fine.

The club have made my dreams come true. I remember getting overly giddy when parlane, tolmie and mcnab signed one summer, so im all good with how it worked out.

But its ok to call the club out. Last year was a recruitment fuck up which pep admitted too and its set us back big time.

But lets not be silly eh

We may have had chances and were playing well, but their keeper had bugger all to do. Our xG was 0.15 late in the first half which is pretty poor.

xG is a load of bollocks ? What was Real Madrid's xG in the first 20 minutes? Sometimes you score early and still lose
Stats never win games or something to build from, it's all about good old-fashioned ball in the onion bag.

City just turned off and lost the plot ? It happens in big games like at Madrid, Just think what it must be like with 60.000 madrid fans all going wild and you are on your own, We all played our blame card after the game and us fans lose the plot on here.

Let's see at the Etihad next week because we can do what they did to us and with the City fans are rocking, maybe a good early start and goals they will buckle

I don't read your tags. Don't care what you and your ilk have to say about politics.
LOL. Your hundreds of posts about politics would say differently, but then everything about Trump blew up in your face like everyone but you predicted, so NOW you “don’t care.” Candy-ass chickenshit post.

Worst scenario for me would be extra time on Tuesday, with the Carabao cup final to play on Sunday. I hope it’s over in 90 minutes, whatever the result.
If we get to extra time on Tuesday I'll be buzzing, means we've put in some performance. Give me a win on penalties all day.

If the players can't get up for a final 5 days later that's on them.

The tie is not over
Yes, it's going to be hard to pull 3 goals back, but we are at home and magic happens at the Etihad.
One big result changes the whole season and the feeling going into the league cup final

The few examples of comebacks in the CL after being 3+ goals down in the 1st leg involve only big clubs, maybe partly due to their misplaced confidence.

Deportivo La Corunha lost the 1st leg at Milan 4:1 in 03/04 but won the 2nd 4:0.

Famously, Barca lost 4:0 at PSG and then won 6:1.

In 17/18, Barca won 4:1 vs Roma and got beaten 3:0 in the 2nd leg.

Infamously, Barca lost 4:0 at Anfield after winning the 1st leg 3:0.

So, shit like that happens. I expect a difficult game for Real at the Etihad.

This Real Madrid have also conceded 3+ goals
Six times this season.

Now that we've calmed down a bit. Honestly, Real were marginally better than us overall, but only marginally. The result makes it look like a smashing. It wasn't. Two really superb goals from them — they're always capable of that, especially in Europe and by God we of all people should know that from over the last ten years and more — and one where they got a bit lucky and finished well. Ees football, as someone said. I think we'll probably go out (when did you last see someone turn over a 3-0 result against Madrid, in Europe?) but I hope we give a good account of ourselves. We're a better team than we were last year, and they are far from being vintage Madrid, even if Mbappe and Bellingham are back.

When things have gone tits up for us this season it always tends to be the same way. Quick attacker behind our high line with an isolated defender. Usually a wide attacker and a fb. We’ve rode our luck quite a bit too, with Gigi pulling off great saves, or less talented teams fluffing their chances. We’ve got to sort it out, but I think it’s too late this season. I hope we give Madrid a real chasing, and I’d love to knock them out. But I just think we have too big a defensive vulnerability to go all the way even if we did.

Real will shit themselves if we're 2-0 up at half-time. But that's a big if.

Were away goals still a thing I’d say them scoring next week would be game over. It’s not though so a 4-1 then pens or a 5-1 isn’t quite beyond us. Unlikely but not impossible.
