Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

hope that players on their way back, they gonna watch their defending in last few minutes.

you just cannot concede these at this level.

also Mahrez, Foden, Grealish looking on repeat the chances they had and missed in the tie overall. that cost as just as much if not more.

in the home leg, it was criminal to only have 1 goal lead in the end. even Real couldnt believe it happened.

if i have choose it was more criminal to only win 4-3 at home based on the chances we had and they had, then conceding two in Bernabeu albeit the timing of the latter is also criminal on its own.

lesson has to be learned, when your opponent is there for taking you finish them with killer instinct or let them off and face the hell they can put you through.
and Real pulled their killer instinct out of the bag again after PSG, Chelsea, as in those ties there were periods when Chelsea, PSG had the chance to act but they didnt.

PSG especially completely dominated the home tie vs Real, should have won by 2-3 goals instead of a 1-0, and atuallly real had no shots whatsoever in that game unlike the 3 goals at Etihad they managed to score.

Btw why was KDB so bad today?
all twitter was like, omg a fresh, rested KDB ready to run the show in Bernabeu, he was probably our worst while he was on. ball bounced off of him, given away passes, outran by Modric few times etc.
must have had some injury in him from the start.

Everyone had the chances to finish Real off in knockout stages but they didnt shake when they needed to bring their killer instinct in crucial moments unlike PSG, Chelsea and us.
and that is experience and mentality.

I rate Ancelotti's work very highly, how he had to build a new defence with Varane/Ramos gone recently, and how he has two absolute expensive deadwood sitting around in Bale and Hazard and still wins the title by 15 points lead and gets to CL final with a hell of fixture list and he keeps getting the best out of and old midfield and making Benzema reaching this form etc.
And they about to get Rudiger and Mbappe for a transfer fee of zero who both will add more to their team and we spend 100m on Grealish who added I am not sure what to City.
(Alaba for free last year too, good business)

We could use these kind of free transfers, Txiki probably would not care unless there is a release clause on them.

have not expected this from Ancelotti last year when he was at fucking Everton.

Declan Rice!
Closest thing out there to a like for like Ferna replacement. Overpriced no doubt but based on his interviews I'd say he'd push pretty hard to get a move to us to work with Pep.

Rodri is ace but he's a great big unit and lacks the mobility that peak Ferna has had.

Must admit I've admired him for a while - Think he'd thrive under Pep and in this team playing the way we do.
Gareth Barry type signing...and hes the best signing we have had..i agree with Noel.. really wise buy..Declan Rice yes..godd passer. Actually tries to win the ball without fouling much..very hard to do today. Get him in..amazing asset

I think everyone who thinks we fucked that up is overreacting. They just got lucky, not one person watching that expected them to get back into it, even their own fans were leaving and they've seen it all. Had they not scabbed that second goal we'd not have mentioned the first and all be saying we deserved it.
I agree, they had just seen us miss two great chances when Grealish had one cleared off the line and one brilliantly saved and they just threw everything at us, as they had nothing to lose.
However as soon as their first goal went in, the momentum swung and we were on the ropes and they took full advantage.

It is gut wrenching to think we got knocked out, i'm still in shock and It's annoying to think that we had enough chances in both games to comfortably go through.

We have a big test coming up now though and we need to show we can bounce back from this as we have a huge week coming up, starting Sunday. We need to win every game, so let's finish the job and win the league!

COME ON CITY!!!

Their lad in nets was pretty good tbf. Made all the difference

Courtois was awful in the first leg but you could argue he was a match winner for them tonight - I thought eddy could have done much better with one of the goals

I thought he was partly culpable for both Rodrygo’s goals. Slow to get to the cross for the first and made no attempt for the second, though who was marking Rodrygo? Shambolic. I didn’t think it was a penalty, but once given I had no confidence in Ederson saving it. I know he’s vital to how we play, but he really needs to make saves more often. I remarked to a lad at Leeds before the game, ‘why are our staff giving shot practice to Carson and not Ederson?’… Ederson wasn’t even warming up. Anybody else noticed this?

We lost all control in the last 5 mins, that is not down to the manager, that was due to ‘panic’. At 85 mins I said we’re giving them encouragement, panicking… Not had an attempt on target in 90 mis, then that happened. FOUR times in this tie we had a 2 goal lead… I’m distraught. I’m in the PL priority camp, but tonight is painful. I wonder if we’re destined to never win it? I Hope there’s no hangover from this in the remaining games. The players need to recover their mentality quickly.
