Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

It's a cup competition who offen does the premier league winners win the fa cup ?

I cant stand the way the CL winners are classed as the best in Europe. Its bollocks.

People need to see what the CL really is nowadays it's just a European knock out cup. Where teams can qualify by being 25 points behind their country's league champions.

In the 'old' days when it was true champions versus champions, it was the champions cup. It's not now.

We arent allowed to call our stadium the Etihad on CL nights. They have tried to banned us and fine us twice. We need CAS to clear us, we arent liked.

Like some else has said I wasnt looking forward to us a d dippers being in Paris. It would have been trouble and the press/media would be blaming us City fans.

Its shit to lose like that but we have won with Aguerooooooooo, that's football.

Heads up blues lots of noise on Sunday we are City super City from Maine Road

CTID

Yep a team can finish 7th 30 points behind the champions win the Europa get in the champs league and win it!

Problem with football is money it always has been was the yanks moved in on the cash cow it was inevitable where the game has ended up and it’s only going to get worse more Americanised.

I have had a real issue when it comes to Laporte for a long time.

He's a reactionary defender, he rarely anticipates because he knows he doesn't have the pace to get back in if he gets too tight.

In the biggest of games, certainly Europe, he has cost us plenty.

He bottles it in the big moments, at fault for two in the first leg here against Madrid, same against Spurs.

I don't trust him, because when things get tight, he gets tight.
Never been the same since his injury, I just don’t rate him.

Had a crap nights sleep last night with it all running in my head but I have realised how difficult is it is to get into this 'winners' cartel. There have been no first time champions in this competition since Chelsea in 2012, which shows just how difficult it is to win this.

We were the better side over two legs by far.

We should have been safe after the first leg - 4-3 was a great result given they were being battered.

We simply need to take our chances. We need to be able to close up shop and play it cool. And we need more reliable strength in depth in some positions.

But sometimes funny things happen in football.... We benefited in '99 and with the Aguero moment. Sometimes it bites you on the bum.
In a nutshell.
Hopefully Alvarez and Haaland will sort the non scoring out.

We didnt play till the final whistle. Better game management required.
I think some of the City players did feign injury, dived to time waste and tried some of the dark arts, but it is not something i think suits City as a club....we are better than that...in fact its embarrassing and needs to be eradicated from MCFC.
Apart from that though im still gutted to lose that game in that way. It seemed the players lost some of their fight after the third real goal which is a huge concern.

Agreed, I don't trust Ake, either.

Stones is our best defender on the right and opens up that side of the pitch.

My issue is merely that Laporte should not be starting this season when Stones is available.

Dias had been poor this season, and I put it down to Pep allowing Laporte to maintain the dynamic of starting if fit.

I think a lot can be solved with full backs who can defend.
I thought with a 2-0 lead, 5 mins remaining and subs being made, Ake should have been one of them to shore up the back and help
With crosses etc. I’m surprised We didn’t make that change.

91 other clubs would swap places for our set-up in a heartbeat.

If you want certainty in football, then people need to find another hobby?

It's shocking, but hardly devastating, we lost in a European Cup semi-final away to Real Madrid.

First World problems.

Pep and the Club have worked wonders and a Fourth Premier League title in five seasons would be nothing short of phenomenal.

A lot of people are jumping the shark. We won't get better than Pep, unless we want to try and fluke a Roberto De Matteo for 12 months?

I have sensed with this competition that quite a few people now want to to win it just to shut up our detractors, but those critics will still be there, regardless.

The only thing we as fans need to concern ourselves with, is making sure we are right behind the lads over this next week and drag them over the line.
Agreed Tolm

And as much as I appreciate and marvel the club we now support and as much as I love the football we play under the best manager we have ever had and as much as I despise UEFA

It still hurts
