Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

I won't get into the corruption of the referee, not interested in it. But he fundamentally dictated the game. If he books Casemiro for the foul on Kev in the 6th/7th minute as he's supposed to it's a completely different game. Casemiro can't later on rugby tackle Phil, and he can't influence the game as he did. It's just abysmal by the ref that he didn't do his job properly, but then booked Laporte and Modric for basically nothing a few seconds/minutes later. You do wonder.

I'll add I'm not blaming the referee for our implosion in injury time, that had nothing to do with the referee or Pep, that was on the players and players alone, and down to Real not giving it up when 95% of sides would've by then.

Good post, but an important additional point to add about the referee was him deciding to end the game 2 minutes 50 in to added time , when the board had shown 3 minutes (a ridiculous decision in its own right given the amount of time wasting from Real) and just as Ederson was about to launch the ball in to their box. To deny that attacking opportunity is appalling refereeing at best and corruption at worst.

For anyone who downplays the significance of him ending the game early, ''it was only 10 seconds'' etc. Well, if the QPR game ended at 93.10 there's no Aguero moment...

Getting sick and tired of the increasing levels of cheating that’s going on in the game today.

The holding of the face and head when there is no contact, or minimal at best. The flopping, the rolling, the grasping at broken legs that suddenly heal when the ref asks him if he wants the Physio and to leave the field.

And, I’m not just talking about other teams’ players!

Lastly, I’m the furthest thing from a Dyche fan, but I do like how he calls out the bullshit that creeping into the game. He does it with a sense of humor, but it’s pointed nonetheless!

It’d be sour grapes to complain about Casemiro and his THREE non-existent yellow cards, especially when juxtaposed against Sterling’s brilliant tackle…and subsequent foul and yellow card!

There should have been a “pull back” yellow card in the first minute. Ref bottled it and made the rod for his own back (IF it had not been inserted pre-game by UEFA?!), just as Tierney did at Leeds on the weekend!

Can’t complain about any of the decisions around the goals, but he certainly did his damnedest to influence the game throughout, especially by ignoring the Casemiro yellows AND the prevalence of his other fouls.

And, DEBE, while we are talking about Rugby, let’s mic up the officials, make the audio available (unedited!) post-game, and let’s add a layer of transparency to an increasingly gambling funded sport at a time when even objective viewing raises suspicions.
Make the VAR ref broadcast what they're seeing like they do in rugby union and cricket. Would settle a lot of things.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but there's a conspiracy going on against us. In about 30 years, long after I'm wearing a wooden overcoat, people on the inside will be revealing all to journalists for eye watering amounts of money.

Plucked up the courage to watch the highlights.

No way in a million years do we get that penalty, not a fuckin chance.

As bad as our game management was that decision fuckin stinks.

The 1 in the first leg was soft too.
Said it at the time - no way a pen. It was not a trip, it was an unnatural dive.

I only had the courage to watch the brief highlights once and I thought the City player got the ball before he got Benzema's front foot who then left his other leg trailing to make sure he fell over. How many times have we had penalties denied because the defender touched the ball first?

What happened to the ref in the retired ref (Poll) in the studio ? Has Dermot Gallagher been asked to comment yet ?
I stopped listening to TalkSHITE years ago, and certainly won't resume listening at a moment like this.
