What a BRILLIANT performance away to Real! There wasn't the sparks & drama of last seasons' away game, but this time we've shown we've grown up. What a controlled display! I'm so so proud of our boys!
Walker handled Vini Jnr superbly, & it was telling their goal came from him having to drift inside, as he couldn't get past Rapido Walker! But what a fuckin goal that was! No one was stopping that & Vini Jnr is already a footballing Superstar at 22!
This was a high quality match of the highest order. It gets no better. We controlled the game in the first half, & as I predicted it was gonna take a worldy or two to make a difference, & Vini's rocket certainly did.
It's just what Real do. You can be dominating them, but they have the quality players who can produce moments of magic like that!
HOWEVER, City too have game changing Superstars & just as Real were controlling the narrative in the early to middle part of the second half, up steps the Ginger Ninja with a pile-driver of his own which left Courtois with ZERO chance!
Real stepped up the pressure trying to find a winner, but we went into game management mode & regained the possession initiative. Real became desperate, because they badly wanted an advantage to take with them to Manchester, but City held on to make it all square.
I thought Eddie, Gundog & Rodri had excellent games throughout & over all it was a classic team performance. We're at halftime & it all rests on next Wednesday when we have home advantage.
Roll on Sunday against a surprisingly resurgent Everton. It's not the kind of match I want in between a CL Semi against Real, but we've gotta be in it to win it, & it wasn't so long ago that we were on the outside looking in, & could only dream of high profile European matches like this.
I'd have loved the win, but if offered a draw at the beginning, I'd have taken it without hesitation. Finally, Rudiger is a fuckin twat with the strength of a Grizzly who I'd prefer to be on my side, rather than be playing against him.
It is what it is though. If we wanna win the most prestigious prizes in football, we've gotta get past the very best in the world, so coming away from Madrid with a draw is nothing to sniff at...
Come on City! We can do this! )(
