Not sure about that. Both Dinho and Rodri were in bad form back then. Dinho was very poor in the FA Cup semi vs Chelsea. Rodri made big mistakes in the games prior to the final. Given that Gundo can play at DM, which many fans don't seem to realize, Pep went for Gundo at DM.

Our main problem back then was that we hit form long before the CL final and won 21 games in a row between December and March, with Rodri in brilliant form in that period. But Rodri, Cancelo and other players lost form in the final month of the season and were on the bench in Porto.

This season, we have hit form in February/March and hopefully will keep it to the CL final.
Rodri and Gundogan started all knockout games except the second leg of SF and Final, as i recall the system was working just fine, we were solid defensively and our overall play was good, so there was absolutely no need of that tinkering which pep did and it brought about our downfall.

I’m the opposite; feels bloody huge to me.

This is the fourth time we’ve faced them in the KO stages, the third time in the semifinals. They’ve won two to our one from the previous KO meetings, last year’s gutting way we went out to them is still fresh in the memory and it’s time for revenge!

Like you, I’m not scared of them, but they are the best team in Europe other than us and they’re the fourteen times champions. So it’s going to be another classic and with the background setting from last year’s loss and the potential for us to have our greatest season ever… this feels like two of the biggest games we’ve ever played in our history to me and will only be topped by the final if we get there (that’s with me feeling that the Chelsea final never felt like a big game because of the no-fans season making me feel completely detached from football).

We all have to believe we are better than them, they love nothing more than respecting them and the badge before the kick-off, that is where the game is won and they have you, Yes say all the right things BUT you want to kill them and not coming off that pitch without a result,

This is why clubs like Liverpool with their this is anfield crap in the tunnel or OT and United with the Theatre of Dreams bollocks, its mind games and they have you hooked,

I believe in lessons have to be learnt in losing so you can winners, that way you did not lose in the first place but just learnt a valuable lesson

Is it difficult to understand that form changes? Both Dinho and Rodri had poor performances prior to Porto. If say Grealish, who has been brilliant, loses form and Foden hits form, Foden will replace him.

If Walker didn't have a history of brain farts, especially in the CL, then I'd agree with you.. but he does.

Spot on.

He is the best at what he does when he remains focused and keeps his game simple,at other times he is very capable of a boo boo and that is a justifiable concern.

I'm worried, because I'm feeling quite upbeat about this game. And when I'm feeling bullish, we generally do badly.
Conversely, when I'm really nervous about an upcoming game, we seem to play a blinder.
Therefore I'm worried because I'm not a bag of nerves.

I will be nervous for you if you like , not too bad as it is the cl and i am not that bothered but really want it for the boys and club

I can only remember one in the CL (the red card in the dead rubber group game against Leipzig).

Other than that where it wasn’t even a big game, Walker has probably been City’s most consistent big game player I can ever remember.

All his other shit games or moments have come in games like Wigan away in the FA Cup, Palace at home in the league etc.
