There are two kinds of people on this world, those who want to excel above the rest through hard work and by achieving, and those who want to make themselves look taller by pulling everyone else down.
It's a lesson I learned well early in my own career, with some woman spending her whole day writing down what I was doing and whether it was in line with the (her) process on a daily basis, and presenting it to management. Didn't have an answer though when asked "if you spend all day watching me, what about your own work?" She had a breakdown shortly thereafter, people in glass houses and all that..
Reminds me very much of City and the moaning clubs around us. We're not here to judge what others do, we're here to win.
I've never put that much stock in this award, but I am absolutely loving the fall out it's creating in Madrid. It's like when that super-false couple we all know, who call each other legends and babe for the benefit of others rather than themselves, and tell us even going to Tesco was super-amazing, and the kids love the awesome school they definitely didn't have down as sixth choice, finally let the mask slip and have a full on argument in the middle of the party they're hosting. We should leave, or at least turn the other way, but goddam I'm finishing this glass of wine first, slowly!
