Real Madrid (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Over 2 legs they were better mate 5-1 yeah we had chances but look how open we were at there’s and at ours.. they had best players out too, like spurs Sunderland against us and struggle
Hard to judge , if we had 11 v 11 tonight i think we beat them comfortably , first leg was a disaster and that was on Pep's team selection , we didnt struggle tonight we gave a good account of ourselves in trying circimstances admittedly created by our own mistake.

What is worrying is how hard it is for us to score.

Must have been more than a dozen chances tonight and we come off with 1 scuffed goal.

We used to score easily, and then ease up until the next game.

Can't work it out, every goal is hard to score these days.
I do agree with this. Despite recent results there are games where we've have four or five times more shots on goal than the opposition. We do struggle because opponents flood their own third when we're attacking, relying on scoring the odd goal for themselves on the break, however this is a problem that needs a solution if we wish to continue winning trophies. Games such as this often end with points shared which has a huge impact during the final quarter of the season.

If you think tonight was embarrassing you can't seriously have been supporting our club for too long. Football already has too many drama queens.

Over both legs we got outclassed… first leg on pep… yeah we came out fighting tonight but they were in every time on break if Khusonov wasn’t there be 6.7

Vinicius missed 5

I expect better from our clubs captain.
Lead by example.
If he's a proper leader he will be apologising for his stupidity.
Just goes to show how us CITY fans can get behind the boys at the Etihad when it's needed.
Credit to the stewards in and around block 111 who were quick to react to away fans in the home fans area.
Same energy Sunday and put our chances away and win our first silverware this season. CTID

so not changed my point of view since last week- West Ham away just re-enforced it.
Think Khaldoon needs to tell Pep thanks for the memories and the glory, but time has run its course and time to say goodbye, and that includes all his coaching staff.
Identify who we want as the new manager and get them in early - I have no idea who but not another year of Pep - nothing will change - unless we just want the top 4 trophy and reached some semi finals or final only to overthink it and fuck it up trophy
Player wise and cant believe I am saying this but , Bernie let go, Stones let go, Dias transfer, Halaand Transfer, Philips let go, Kovacic Transfer, Saviniho transfer, Lewis transfer, Ake transfer, Foden given a right royal rollicking and told in no uncertain terms sort his shit out or transfer, (missing out on world cup may actually be the biggest Kick up the arse he can get)
Decide who we are bringing back from loan and actually integrate them into the first team, likewise the golden nuggets if any from the academy

not a rant, not a knee jerk just now weary of two years of meh and no visible sign of anything changing if Pep stays at the helm.
May not be a rant or a knee-jerk in your book. In my book it screams that you should get some sleep. Entitlement sounds so much worse when you're tired.

Yeah we played well but Madrid 3 up played with in themselves, but still cut us open so easily… like I’ve said if I was Vinicius I’ll be gutted not going home with 4-5 goals plus

Moving on 4 players who hardly play is not ruthless, and will not make any difference.

Ruthless is admitting, some players who play aren't good enough and moving them on.

If we only kept one from your list, it has to be Bernardo.
Absolutely my original thinking…

We need to move on players we have only signed in the last few seasons, and that the bit nobody at the club will enjoy doing. If we don’t do it though, we won’t open up the space for new talent.

Bernardo has played virtually every game, so he doesn’t deserve to be the bracket of stones, kova, ake etc

All of whom I would move on also.

we actually looked better tonight than we have in a while.....we were better going forward certainly.....not as cramped up as soon as Pep decided to drop the two central forwards idea....hopfully he will have seen tongith we are better attacking team with just Haaland Central and others playin out wide of him and behind him.....

Doku played well again and Khusonov was very ood defensively. Good to see haaland looking a bit sharper again as well.

That set up with the 3 centre halves in the second half and Nunes and RAN pushed higher seemed also to work...maybe its something Pep is considering even with 11 players on the pitch?

Some of our passing in the middle third needs to be better from our centre halves especially.

I dont think there is a more loathsome player than Vinicius Jnr.....the racisim towards him the other week is depolrable and should never be tollerated or excused.... but on a side note as a human being he is one of the most obnoxious cheats I have ever seen . I wouldnt want him anywhere near this club should ever the possibility arise.....Id rather watch us in the conference league than see him ever play in blue

people having a go at Silva for the pen are ridiculous. He had his hands behind his back correctly. Totally natural instinct to move toward blocking the ball. His only other option is to jump away from the ball heading to what he must assume is back of the net. It was absolutley totally a natural desire to do his job you are complaining about.

Got in work at 2315hrs. Not upset we got knocked out, the tie was lost in Madrid. Actually really proud of how we played and even with 10 men we were creating chances. Not seen Bernardos handball yet but by all accounts it was the right decision.
What is concerning me is quite simple. We are actually creating chances, lots of them but simply not finishing them off. I counted 4 in the 1st ten minutes tonight and found myself getting frustrated at our wastefulness in front of goal. Said it the other day, we simply do not take games away form any opposition anymore. Always a goal, maybe 2 but never comfortable.
Anyway-Over it already, hope Bayern beat Madrid next round.
Really hope Pep does the last year of his contract as I feel next year will be the time to judge this team. Khusanov should be the 1st name on that team sheet every week!
See you Sunday.
