Bit of a moan but it's a shame that loyalty/ticket points seem to completely go out of the window when it gets down to members. 30,000+ in a queue should never happen as it leads to an absolute free-for-all where it's certain that a large number of tickets will end up in the hands of neutrals/madrid fans. Half and Half scarf brigade will be out in full force now at the expense of a bit of membership cash for the club

Will be the same as most CL games loads of Chinese , loads of tourist , neutrals, non city fans people watching the game through their phones not celebrating when we score not making any effort to create any sort of atmosphere whilst loads of locals and people that have gone every game miss out on tickets luckily I've got my season ticket so sorted mine on Wednesday but for any members that were on their today that missed out I would definitely be complaining to the club about this criteria someone who got a membership yesterday and hasn't gone any games this season has the same chance of a ticket than someone who's been a member for years and has been every home CL game is a disgrace and this had the potential to be a good atmosphere however as usual it will just be south stand and kippax corner singing and rest of the stadium won't be up for it probably because they aren't proper city fans and have never been to a game before so anyone who's missed out I fell really sorry for you and unfortunately your seat most likely will be took up by someone on their phone for the whole game or a madrid fan that bought a membership yesterday needs sorting out from the club for future games reckon a few more will go on sale in the next days/weeks and madrid probably will only sell one tier so we'll get the usual away end like we did last year so for any blues that didn't get one today I wish you the best of luck getting one before the game.

They’ll see it as a success. Loads of demand, new fans coming to buy stuff in the store. Tickets gone in double quick time so no need to pay for extra staff in the ticket office.

Fuck the atmosphere.

A lot of them aren’t new fans. They will be there to see Madrid or to attend a semi final.

We played Madrid a few years ago when Pellegrini was in charge and it was pretty much Madrid fans all over east stand level 1

I genuinely think this was a commercial decision.

1) increase revenue from Cityzen membership sales

2) Obtain data from new customer base (another blue highlighted this, not me)

3) can justify higher ticket sales for home games next season and roll out their system which determines price based on demand (AKA charge £60+ per adult for each PL home game)

There’s a good chance you’re right. Selling Cityzens match day memberships ahead of this is a complete piss take. I wonder how many people paid £35 for membership to gamble on getting a ticket? And how many succeeded thereby displacing members with thousands of points?

Think the Club has killed any chance of this being a great atmosphere. Shocking how many times our manager has said how important it is for the fans to be loud it's kind of impossible when we'll have thousands of neutrals around the ground

Sadly, I think you are right. The people running our club are smart highly competent people, we are not in cup for cockups territory here.

The only real risk to the strategy is if we don't have continued success and broader demand dries up but given that a total nose dive is unlikely in the next few years it's probably a minor risk and who knows what football and its revenue streams will look like by the time it does happen.
