IMG_3718.jpegMakeshift defence for Tuesday and no Rudiger. That defence is actually twice as bad as ours ! C’mon

Thinking of booking. Anyone got any good routes and prices, ideally from MCR direct or with change, leaving Mon or Tues, back Thurs, could you pm me?

You can see our "defence" Valllejo is not gonna play, not sure why carlo even puts him on the list...asencio from castila is our only "true" CB...alaba, militao rudiger all injured...and tchuameni will play CB alongside asencio....also carvajal injured our true RB, so vasquez will sadly play that....all in all, i wish real got someone this winter, but real has a policy of not brining people in winter unless short tearm loans, like kepa was.

So i guess this tie could be a real banger for neutrals, and i fear the scoreline could be tennis numbers in the end...

Nice summary thanks ;)

No problem, i dont mind answering quesitons regarding real, especialy in this tie, after more than 20 years of following it.

From my perspective, this is the worst and best time we could face city. Best becouse, city is not doing great, i think the worst i saw city in like what 5+ years?

Worst is, we are at our worst in the last couple of years in terms of defence and overall structure.

Also, trust me, none of us wanted city in play offs, especialy this "early". I think even uefa didnt want this match to happen this early but this new format gave "chance" some teams that probably would not make it past group stage in the old format. This shows, that being in top 8 helps, you 2 games less and you can face the rest of the top 8 in the later stages.

im not sure thats a bonus...that means valverde will probably play on RB, and thats a direct buff to our defence, the problem is, he is important in our mid, so there are alot of combinations in that case, camavinga, modric, brahim, or beligam is pulled back and brahim up front.

It might sound "bad" but vasquez getting injured is making our defence stronger if it makes sense :D

They're front line ain't half bad.

Valverde is a top midfielder but he isn't a RB, Savinho/Doku are hard to stop 1 vs 1. Plus, not having Valverde in midfield is a big loss for Real in terms of energy and pressing.

Mbappé vini, rodrigo, beligam still didnt "click" completly..and ironiy, Mbappé plays better without vini, proven by stats, becouse he can drift more to the left as an inside foward while with vini he plays a more central role.

You are right, he is not a RB natural, but irony is, he plays alot better RB than vasquez..not thats hard to beat but still...

Thats why i am saying, valverde is now forced to play RB, that leaves a hole in mid, but atleast our defence will be more solid

A lot of teams will learn about the new CL format through the fact City and Real have to now play each other in the playoff. Every team thought it was no big deal if you didn’t get into the top 8 you just then breezed through via the playoff . Both City and Real have being playing poorly for different reasons hence the situation we both find ourselves in . I think whoever wins the play off can push on and maybe City’s new signings will play a big part especially Marmoush alongside Haaland, they are going to give your makeshift defence huge problems IF City’s misfiring lethargic midfield can get its act together. Real,s forward line is exceptional also so like you say absolutely anything could happen over the 2 legs .
Again thanks for your thoughts and insight :)

Can only see a PSG style bumming for us. Hope having a fit back 4 makes a difference but can see them streaming through our midfield.
Their defence is abysmal. If we win the midfield battle we can put these to bed. I’d go Nico Johnny stones and KDB in the middle

Club made there bed with the midfield in the summer tbh. Thinking Gundo, Kova and Bernie were suitable alternatives to Rodri was very short sighted.

The Nico injury is just fucking typical though, sums up the luck this season.

Oh well we try and do something but minimal expectations because as you say - our midfield is terrible

The clubs plan was Akanji and Stones as Rodri back up, equally stupid I agree however Gundo and Kova where never the original plan, injuries shafted that.

If Nico dont fit

Ortega

Akanji
Khusanov
Dias
Gvardiol

Stones
Kovačić
Bernardo

Marmoush
Savinho
Haaland

Hopefully Bellend will play his usual selfish game and we step up the pace to what we CAN do comapred to what we have been doing recently. I still think City are on an upward trajectory.
