Real Madrid post match thread

What I will say is it's a good job the Madrid forward line are lazy cunts off the ball and got bored of pressing after 10 minutes

Had they kept it up, we would've got smoked

He put Rico on at half time because he wanted him inverting into midfield. That's fine, when he's in a strong team - otherwise Lewis can't do it - he's lost there. Then, when he has to defend, they've got him on toast, apart from 1 tackle.
He is not a midfielder or right back at the top level; and tonight he was facing the top level of attack. He's poor; period!
In the last month, Pep's left him out for Nunes, but against the best attackers, he brings him back after he looked reasonable against Leyton bloody Orient! (By no means am I saying that Nunes is the answer; Kusanov, or Reiss, probably is!)
He looked like the schoolboy that he still is. Sorry Pep; Lewis failed us tonight, and that was down to you. I can see he isn't good enough at the top level so why can't you? We needed Kusanov on when Akanje went off. Of all the youngsters champing at the bit to get minutes, Pep always favours fuckin' Lewis - the lightweight!
What a let down - we nearly rode our luck tonight. Why bring Marmoush on so late? In the end, we had no midfield at all - and then our weak defence and goalie gave them the game in the last 10 minutes. Once again! Fuckin' groundhog day!
I look forward to the team selection for Newcastle. The 1st hour tonight had promise! But, who the fuck is going to be fit, available, and in Pep's good books? Lewis, KDB, Gundo, Kova and Bernardo are all worryingly fit, with Akanje, Ake and Grealish probably injured again, so unless Pep can get some magic out of someone, we're fucked in the next 3 games. Newcastle, Real Madrid and then Liverpool; fuck me!
Very frustrating.
Just think
Palmer,
Lavia,
Olise

We sold them but kept Lewis.

I don’t even know what lewis is.
Is he a full back, a central midfielder, a holding midfielder?

We bought players to address the obvious issues we have and didn’t start any of them. Yet Pep seems surprised that the thing that has happened 5 or 6 times, happened again.
I said exactly that before the game.
Questions should be asked if we throw it away again.

The definition of madness, keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.

No way should Rico have come on, also Gundog is a shell of himself, as soon as Rico, Kova and Gundog came on we just looked weaker and weaker as the game got into the final minutes. Why did we buy almost 200m quids worth of defensive players to leave them on the bench and bring on players that lose us games?

Not having that second from ederson.
Either genuinely brain dead or bent as fuck..
You parry left or Right as a keeper.
Never ever in front of you..

Which one is it ederson.
The only excuse if it came at him too quick to direct the parry. Or did it him on the chest?

Ancelotti said their back four hadn't even trained together.

Which makes it all the more disappointing that I never felt we had any real go at them. Scored a lovely goal and obviously the penalty but just felt over the piece that we never looked to put and keep them under pressure.

Cast back to the 1-1 last season against them. We completely dominated the game, just couldn't take chances. Tonight felt and looked different, felt like Madrid could have scored a few more and we rarely threatened their goalie from open play.

To be honest, Normally Pep is the man dictating football with his style of play and tactical tweeks that he constantly changes every year or during the season depending on how we are getting on.

However, It now has a feeling that football is moving on and we are been left behind, We are a very one dimensional team now, How on earth Haaland has another 20+ goals this season I'll never know! Shows how good of a centre forward the lad is, He's the best in the business.

All the top teams around Europe have moved away from completely trying to dominate the ball and have gone more direct, Players with pace in wide areas that can score and assist and also big powerful lads in the midfield areas.

I know we are going down the route of signing those types of players with Savinho, Doku, Marmoush and others, Although we are crying out for players that can get numerous assists and goals especially in wide areas, We are so heavily reliant on Haaland, If opposition take him out of the equation it's half the battle.

It's hard to believe the massive drop off in two years.

Madrid are riddled worse than us with injuries. Still looked like they could have scored 4 or 5 if they had taken their chances.
The most annoying thing for me tonight was not the fact they scored 3 (I expected that with our leaking defence). It was the fact that we didn't take the opportunity to go after their makeshift defence all evening. I would expect ANY manager to be telling his players to take every opportunity to have a go at them. Either Pep didn't, or they didn't listen. It was a complete missed opportunity for me. Very frustrating

He’s been awful for 2 years!!
Grealish played really well tonight.

For vast parts of the game we look composed and controlled and well worth at least a draw against one of the best sides in the world.

Two awful goals to concede, but a vast improvement on two months ago.
