I'm not really sure why these games in hand are causing such a stir amongst everyone, not just City fans mentioning it but outsiders as well.

If we go out against Barca our calendar opens up and apart from the Semi Final (if we get through) we've only league games to play. Yes we might have to play Saturday Wednesday Saturday for a couple of weeks, but bearing in mind that our games in hand are Sunderland and Villa at home and United away id have thought our squad is more than capable of winning all three regardless of the fixture congestion.

I think its the requirement to not clash with CL games that is adding to the problem

Fair point. But even if we have to play Saturday and Monday night the games in hand are at home so you'd like to think we would be able to put a team out capable of beating Villa and Sunderland.

It isn't so much the big games as the likes of Sunderland and Villa that can cause an issue. I have full confidence our squad can go to the swamp and win and then step out against Arsenal fully pumped to go and get another results. It is playing games in quick succession where things may be a little flat and the fans get a bit impatient where these games take their toll. We should be fine, but something has to give at some stage, playing so many crucial games so regularly is bound to have a mental toll on the players.

It certainly will, that's why I knew it would be so important for us to win yesterday as it gives them the hunger to push on till the end of the season.

I think the worst thing that could happen to us would be for us to go over to Barca and win to take us through, that then would leave us with no rest at all and potentially playing Saturday (PL) wednesday (CL) Saturday (PL) monday (PL) or something along those lines, now that is a step to far and tbh it could affect our chances in the PL and CL and we'd probably end up with neither.

If we go out against Barca out calendar opens up, and with a bit of rotation in certain areas id be confident of a big push for the league and FAcup.

Winning in Barca is the worst that could happen to us? How times have changed

why can't we just play at 5pm on a Tuesday or Wednesday?

I think several thousand fans would actually like to be able to make the game

First priority is the players, and weekend/wednesday is better than saturday/monday, besides we've had fairly decent crowds at a 5pm Europa game before so it's doable and it's not like the 3pm Saturday games against the likes of Stoke have bums on every seat. Knock the prices down a bit to compensate and I think you'd get a fair few more locals coming along which is only a good thing as well.

We need to do what's right to give our players the best chance, and a couple of days extra rest between games is key.

The first priority are the fans not the players. Clubs would be pointless without their fans. Winning trophies is pointless if no one is there to watch it. The whole point about losing to Barca opening up our fixture window is also inaccurate. We cannot play league games on a champions league fixture date. So yes we will be fresher but we will still have to cram games into certain weeks. I assume Saturday and Monday will have to happen at some stage - losing to Barca will give us more recovery time but the players want to win and getting knocked out could affect them.
