Recomend a hotel in Manchester

I'm a massive fan of the Ibis on Portland Street. Also like Ramada on the same street, bit closer to Piccadilly but not quite as good. I found both ridiculously cheap.

Without wanting to hijack the thread has anyone stayed at Hatters hostel on Newton Street? Considering it for my next visit in 3 weeks.

Why don't you stay at the Hilton Deansgate. You'll see the team there on Saturday leaving on the team bus at about 4pm.

Anyone got a good hotel that won't break the bank for Saturday night.

Mrs birthday and need to book it fast as I won't be going to the game otherwise as she will not be happy me bailing on her birthday.

Whatever you do, make it a 'surprise' birthday. Invite some friends, or anybody, to the occasion and film it.

Great memories *ahem* shared and a wife that would have had her *cough* fill enough to leave you alone for the rest of the footballing season.

Everybody wins...

The MacDonald just behind Piccadilly Station is a once a season treat for me providing I can get it at a good price. When it's only £15 more than Travelodge on Ancoats then it's worth it just for pure comfort.

Treat her and take her to the Hilton. Best rooms are on the 16 floor if I remember correctly. Just make sure your on the correct side of the building. When we got to our room it was overlooking the swamp. Complained and got moved to the opposite side. Much better view with the Etihad in the distance :-)

Holiday inn, oldham rd. About 15-20 minute walk from the Etihad.

Stayed there after the QPR game last season and if I have my way wouldnt be back, nothing wrong with the hotel, but much prefer city centre and this is neither very handy to the ground or very handy for town and what you save in being a bit further out you more than spend in taxis into town.
The Mitre is a great location and normally very good value (but I find when i stay there I wake up with a sore head and very dry mouth and often churning guts, I think it must be the heating (nothing to do with the residents lounge staying open late)

Only this,The Hilton is a fantastic hotel the views and floor to ceiling windows make it special even on a rainy day.Adding to the fact just near there is some fantastic watering holes and the red wine selection in la vina is second to none.
