Recommend me a football film.

Escape To Victory (Mike Summerbee & Pele)
Fever Pitch (the original, not the dreadful U.S. remake)
Zidane.
The Escobars, about a player and his Colombian drug baron brother.
Mike Bassett, England Manager, (Ricky Tomilinson)
The Match, about two Scottish pub teams.

yep, was going to suggest the original fever pitch.

'shaolin soccer' and 'the other final' are also worth a watch.

'Yesterdays Hero' was an excellent football film starring the evergreen Ian Mcshane as a washed out ex pro. He is ably supported by the beautiful Suzanne Sommers. The only downside is the poor footballing ability of the dreadful Paul Nicholas and the beebs luuvie Adam Faith. From what I remember, McShane plays with stockings rolled affectionately around his ankles as that Everton/QPR turd from the 70's who's name escapes me. (Dave ????)

Nobody has mentioned looking out for possibly City's best ever player in Kaz Deyna in 'Escape to Victory'. Also a washed out alcoholic during his time at City, I understand no make-up was required during his scenes as a shagged out ex pro because of being put to work in forced labour camp under the Nazis. There is a great/beautiful picture of Deyna next to Sylvestor Stallone in his biography, but alas I don't have it and cant find it on the net..Soz all.

See if you can track down ''Ripping Yarns'' on youtube (it should be on there). There's an episode called Golden Gordon about a fan of a small local (fictional) club in Yorkshire called Barnestoneworth United who are truly awful. It's only 30 minutes long and more a comedy than a film, but it's worth a watch. Michael Palin is brilliant in it.

''Eight nil; EIGHT BLOODY NIL!!!!''

I've seen that. A great short film.

The Damned United is my favourite football film by a mile. It's exceptional.

Watch 'Ron Atkinson Football Manager'

It was a reality TV show sky in the early 2000's. It was basically a hilarious disaster.

or if you fancy something a bit more serious then this is DEFINITELY worth a watch. Brilliant football documentary. Shows how ballsed QPR were at the time.
