Record against the top clubs this season?

When we smashed Chelsea to pieces we thought we were the business! Until everyone beat them and Mourinho got sacked! We beat them home and away, draw or lose to all others apart from a solitary home win against Southampton. We've also failed to win away at the bottom three clubs. It's bean absolutely abysmal.

Pellegrini has completely lost it. Our coaching has been a million miles away from Leicester. Passion, determination and hard work has won this season - with smart and forward thinking fitness training and nutrition to ensure injuries are prevented and players are built for football. Our clowns have overseen injury after injury with players being rushed back with little training. As for Yaya, he looks like he finally got that birthday cake.

A league title and two league cups. It's better than nothing. But it's been a waste of the talent we've had and we're now in dire need of a rebuild, including the backroom staff. Pep is the man to do that, he'll sack anyone and everyone that doesn't work with him and fully believe in what he's trying to achieve.

It's these games that require a bit of tactical innovation as the top players can often cancel each other out. We have had 0% of this for the last 3 seasons.

Looking at those statistics perhaps you could say that the top seven teams, maybe with better players were easily able to read us & our tactics? resulting in the shameful points tally.

Also the bottom three clubs with arguably less good players were able to prevent us winning on their grounds maybe with enthusiasm & endeavour.

Is it the case then that our players & tactics? are nowhere near good enough as well as not having any bottle when the going gets tough ?

Or do these stats merely confirm what has been bleeding obvious for a long time ?

And yet a single victory at any one of the relegated teams (I'm assuming Sunderland will beat a woeful Everton) and we'd have been home and dry for 4th. To score 1 solitary goal, and an offside one at that, in the 3 games at Villa, Norwich and Newcastle is pathetic.

easy to ingest, tough to digest, graphic for you:

everything pointing to a draw against Swansea then

Our record against bottom half teams is W15 D4 L0 and we have scored 45 times and lost 8. Beat Swansea next week and it will be our most succesful and consistent season against bottom-half teams in our PL history.

The problem has been the dross against the top teams. Simple.

You're right to a degree but not picking up maximum points against the lower sides puts additional pressure on the big games. If we had beaten the bottom 3 this year, as we should have, we wouldn't be in the position we are now relying on other teams to slip up.

By comparison: our record against the bottom 12.

There was a clear points split in the PL between the top 8 and bottom 12, and a clear split in how City performed against these two groups.

Can't recall the last time ( if ever ) we got through a PL season without losing to a team in the bottom half of the table.

to be fair we got beat by Stoke so we didn't lose a single game to a team from 10th to 20th. I think that's pretty remarkable. Top 8 record screwed us.
