Well done, but you are one person and not the population in general.
Governments manage the economy for the latter and not individuals.

My cousin is a single parent of 3 lads.

eldest finished Uni last year with a design degree, currently volunteering in a charity shop. Middle one just left school, cant get a start anywhere, youngest brushing up at a barbers on a saturday whilst looking to be taken on as an apprentice.

My cousin works at a special school for errant scousers in Runcorn. She has degree quals in that field.

At the end of the week when she has paid all the bills she is left with £37 to feed and clothe her and the boys.

No doubt she will be delighted with todays economic news

I think things are definitely on the up, I notice there is a definite feel good factor, things have been grim for most people since 2007, but you can't argue with facts and what you can see with your own eyes...

New car sales are high, house prices are slowly moving upwards, (Going crazy in London as usual), wine bars are full, most pubs (especially ones that serve food) seem to be doing OK, however there are certain pockets in England that are still in the doldrums, The East Yorkshire coast, Parts of Northumberland, parts of Merseyside, but overall it's looking OK.

Downsides?

Young first time buyers are struggling to get on the housing ladder, I have three lads and know what it's like for them, but I certainly don't subscribe to the idea that you should overstretch yourself, that can only end in misery...remember mortgage rates can only go up, and when they do, many people will suddenly be shopping at Aldi not Waitrose....:)

Of course I am only generalising, I know many haven't had much of a pay increase for four or five years, and jobs are hard to come by, but I still think things are moving in the right direction.

The poor have always been poor and nothing changes other than the faces of the people telling us that we've never had it so good.

I think the divide between have and have not's is growing Daz and i can't see that ever shrinking, it discusts me tbh.

I pay myself but keep a strict no piss taking policy i.e. giving myself 100 quid an hour and the likes.
I pay myself by the hour and only a bit more than the lads that work for us as i only do a bit more work.
So i can say i really do live by my convictions and am proud of myself for it.

These bankers and such though, ahh fuck that shit.
I know people say they do this and that but it is all a shadow on the wall, nowt tangible, they just shuffle the cash around each other imo.
I know one of them back from school days and he says out right to me he could not give a toss as jack is alright, can't blame the man tbh but i do blame the system.
A system they built i should add.

Well i have an interview friday so things must be on the up if they employ me. Anyone know the best bus to get to trafford park from town and how long will it take. Tram is no go due to finances. Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

This Austerity is ideological. It's purpose was to A. Move public money into private hands and to B. Give the whip hand back to the rich elite thus enabling them to compete with the developing world. We are all working harder for less, zero hour contracts, weakened employment legislation, weakening of unions, cutting of pensions, upping of retirement age, etc etc etc. We are being had! Simple as that. Any bankers done time yet?....... Didn't think so!

Where's this economic recovery that Geoffrey keeps going on about?

GDP per capita still 6% below pre financial crisis level and the government deficit at £130 trillion which is double the figure Gideon forecast at the beginning of the Parliament.

So most people are worse off and there's years more of austerity to come!

Depressing really isn't it.

The LWNJ's just cannot admit that it is coming good.
Ed & Ed are the political equivalent of Laurel & Hardy.
It's over. The Tories will win the next election based on the economy.
Deal with it Dude.
