Recovery, what recovery?

As someone who works around a bellwether part of the economy, there is no doubt in my mind that it is currently going through the gears.

I am uncomfortable with much about the Tories, not least in terms of social policy, but I believe they generally run the economy better than Labour.

Many people who were questioning Osborne's competence and ability to grow the economy at all, have now conspicuously moved the goalposts, much like Blair did on Iraq.

Osborne has played the hand he was dealt superbly. Not in the national interest, but in the interests of self-preservation, and those who cannot appreciate that fact, whatever their personal views on the Chancellor and his politics, seem, to me, to be incapable of any form of objective thought on the matter.

He's gambled and won imo.
As you say 'not in the national interest, but in the interest of self preservation'.
Smoke and mirrors.
Fair play to him. A lot of people understand this and are extremely capable of objective thought on the matter.

Where's this economic recovery that Geoffrey keeps going on about?

GDP per capita still 6% below pre financial crisis level and the government deficit at £130 trillion which is double the figure Gideon forecast at the beginning of the Parliament.

So most people are worse off and there's years more of austerity to come!

Depressing really isn't it.

The LWNJ's just cannot admit that it is coming good.
Ed & Ed are the political equivalent of Laurel & Hardy.
It's over. The Tories will win the next election based on the economy.
Deal with it Dude.

On another note only Italy has taken longer to get back to where it was in 2008.
Let's face it,that isn't too difficult.

Ahem! I think you'll find neither Ireland or Greece have quite managed it yet.

Nor Spain.
Oops, sorry only Italy of the G7 nations has taken longer to recover.
