My biggest grouse with officials is their inconsistent inconsistency. Take the Spurs match as an example. The lino in the first half consistently flagged Spuds players offside for the first 40 minutes and then inexplicably missed one that was yards offside and they scored from the next phase.
I prefer to watch a game where you do not notice the officials, but what are the chances of that happening nowadays with this current bunch of dimwits.
Liverpool at home was another. The ref let go a challenge on Sagna before their first goal that was no different from many he pinged later. The liner was two yards behind the play for firminho's goal. The advantage rule played by the ref was more like in rugby union at times, yet at other times he completely and unnecessarily prevented a counter attack from developing.
