Because he’s the referee. You often see the referee signal for a throw in either way the the linesman put his flag

He certainly was. When they found out that he would give them a free kick for the slightest touch they milked it and went down like they had been poleaxed.

Tbf I thought he was equally guilty of giving soft free kicks against both sides. Seemed to be ‘stop start’ particularly in the second half.

The linesman was on the goal line and referee was outside the box, so I’m not sure he was in the right position to call and what’s the point of having linesman it’s not Sunday league football
