Ref Watch

Shit but had no influence on the the two goals.
True but it did have influence on our ability to get back into it in extra time. I’d be surprised if there was even 15 mins actually played in extra time, and even that was allowed to be completely disrupted by Madrid time wasting and other shithousery. Yes we lost, I am gutted but have to accept it, but I am not sure why I have to accept constant cheating from uefa and PGMOL?

I am giving him the night off and fingers crossed Liverpool will get someone similar in final. Someone who doesn't allow the Dips getting upto their usual antics as well.

He tapped his watch in the first half to indicate he was adding time on when he thought we were time wasting. No such watch tapping during extra time.

I really couldn’t give a fuck about the final now mate. Just win the league, and I hope Chelsea win the cup. Not sure how the ref will be able to cope in the final given it’s 2 uefa history clubs in it

This is what the knicker wetters don’t seem to realise. When playing other top teams like dippers and Madrid the margins are actually very fine and refs make a huge difference, one way or the other. Dippers 45 league games without a pen against is such an obvious cheat, Milner not getting sent off, TAA playing basketball in the area, offside goals not VAR’d, both Madrid teams getting away with murder, it’s simply not 11 v 11. Yes we fucked up today, but we get fucked over more or less every week. And now the irony of another pen not given v dippers and Lampard being done for some incredibly mild comments. Fucking blatant corruption
The ref was poor tonight, but it was our poor game management for not closing the game out which cost us.

Some will say Walker was lucky not to get a red tonight.

There’s lots of instances where we can look at other teams and say they got lucky, the ref was on their side etc, but it swings in roundabouts. I don’t think I need to mention our game against Arsenal, Wolves and Everton. 3 wins, which could have easily been 3 draws had VAR stayed neutral, that’s 6 points that we may not have got, many will say that VAR have handed us the PL title on the back of that.

You look at Liverpool, Chelsea and Utd, all 3 have had decisions go their way, apart from Utd though I’m not sure Chelsea or Liverpool have had ones that have had any real effect on the final result though.

Tonight was disappointing, but we move on to the next game and I as much as everyone else feel frustrated and want to blame the refs and how corrupt UEFA and the PL are, but EVERY team gets decisions for and against them.

Yeah, you are right. They should have been down to 10 though and before HT.
I thought so.

Yeah, I agree. Even if he gets a yellow early in the first half(as he should have) and then has to play more conservatively. That could have changed the completion of the tie because he was taking players out who were breaking on their defence. Even if Ancelotti was forced into subbing him off earlier than the 75min mark because he was either out of the game(letting players go) or walking a tightrope, that could have changed some of Pep's decisions.

Regardless of that, the Sterling(won the ball and got a yellow card) and Zinchenko yellow cards in extra time are a microcosm of how the ref did change the way he was managing the game, the minute Real were level in the tie. Doubly so when they went in front. That's ontop of the fouls suddenly being given that were never fouls in normal time, especially when City were appealing. Then there is the time keepers. None of that happens if the shoe is on the other foot and it was nothing to do with who the home team was.

I agree with those saying the officials/UEFA aren't as to blame as our own players. They shouldn't have been allowed back into it and the goals themselves were fine but that doesn't mean you have to make out the officials had no influence at all in how the game ended. If Real were trailing at the Etihad in extra time, after having the game won, there would be no "homer" referee suddenly showing up trying to help City close the game out. That's fairytale stuff. They'd have at least carried on refereeing it as they did before the game turned and the time keeping would at least be consistent.

The point being, we'll never know if City could have come back from the penalty, with a goal of their own, to shift the pendulum once again because barely any football was allowed to be played and our players were aware of it(started rushing passes, kicking the ball high, mistiming jumps to get to the ball first etc). It would have been nice not to have that, even if they couldn't quite manage it. Well not nice but less to feel annoyed about, it's hard to call it game management when the ref is the biggest reason for it. It was like they swapped the ref for extra time.
