Ref Watch

Watched the Calcutta cup on Saturday. Other than a great win for Scotland :-), the VAR set up and general refereeing was a joy to behold;
  • Referee miked to var team and total transparency with what is being discussed. Multiple angles shown of incidents on big screen Whilst referee and var team discuss them. ‘ I am thinking deliberate knock on into touch, no effort to catch the ball, any reason you guys can see for me not to give a penalty try to blues?’
  • every and I mean every decision described as soon as it was made. At one point, 5 minutes to go with Scotland 3 points in front, a penalty to Scotland which would have sealed the match is overturned and given to England. Var spotted foul play. Ref shown the footage, describes it how he sees it, is totally clear in his ruling and all within seconds. As a spectator thats what you want.
  • only captains allowed to engage with referee to query decisions and then it is done very respectfully and calmly. What a bloody difference
  • referee totally on top of his game, clear, precise in his language, brought touch judges into discussion when they had something to add, totally on top of rules of the game and they are a damn sight more complex than football

if only the PL could serve up similar.
I think he was Australian the Ref as was the VAR operator at Arsenal a few weeks ago. They don't shirk responsibility and have the confidence to stand by their decisions. Their officials in all sports are far ahead of ours.

Full house of cunts for Spurs.

The same ref that allowed Spurs to kick shit out of us on matchday 1.

Difficult to blame the referee today. I always feel Taylor is on the edge of losing control of the game and today was no different but he didn't fall for their cheap dives in the 1st half and the game did flow as well as it could. He can't do anything about injury stoppages whether they are lying or not. As a neutral he cannot accuse a player of it and the overall safety of the players is in his hands.

Was poor yet again, he's done the spurs double this season. I'll mention a corner not given in the first half, a foul that warranted a booking on Kev when Kane was 'injured' went unpunished.

As for VAR...why did our pen take so long for them to decide? Yes eventually they probably couldn't find an angle to let him off but you'll struggle to see a clearer obvious pen.

No way we can blame the ref or var today. It was just one of them games. Really disappointing but we will come back stronger.

He missed a fairly obvious corner but our defeat was nothing to do with Taylor today.
Agree my only gripe was on two occasions he stopped a.corner being taken to book a.spurs player why didn't he just let the corner go ahead and point to the spot if he thought it was a foul ?

we were to blame for today’s performance and loss, but he actually referees our games differently to any other games he referees, with the first game of the season a perfect example. Tonight he missed a clear corner, talks to opposing players at corners to stop fouling us and then speaks to the fucking captain again, should of booked player who fouled KDB, Romero should of got a second yellow card for clear time wasting when pretending to take a free kick, but gave a yellow card to Lloris, doesn’t give a foul on the edge of the box, when there was no advantage and given a second yellow to Romero for handball.

Criminal though to allow a team to score third goal after equalising in the 90+ minute, if you can’t win, don’t fucking loose

He was awful, missed the penalty handball, allowed time wasting from minute one, let them tap the ball away at every free kick and throw in and ruined the game. Corrupt ****

is there a rule that says when ref gives pk , but you can’t give red card to said player ?
also how can he not see ball deflect 45 degree angle and just ignore the corner ?

Can anyone tell me how he missed the corner? Was he too near? What about the penalty, unsighted? Or stopping play when the Tottenham player fell down in the box. Maybe a head injury, even though a leg was clutched?

Yes, he wasn’t the reason we lost today but I don’t think he’s fair when we play. I’ll never forget the Chelsea performance. The worst I’ve ever witnessed.

Oh yeah, he’s an Altrincham fan, by the way.
