Abysmal by Dean today

He seems to think he can referee outside the rules of the game.. and appears to get away with it

It's almost as if Dean got a major bollocking for 2012 and has spent every game since trying to make amends.

Six subs in second half, booked a player for time wasting, on at least three occasions a Huddersfield player went down and Dean stood over him but wouldn't allow a trainer on, keeper taking 25 - 30 seconds over goal kicks. Hey presto only four minutes added on. Refs are complicit in allowing teams to get away with time wasting by not adding on the correct added time. Should have been at least nine minutes yesterday as a minimum and possibly even more. Not sure he even played the four minutes as there was added time in the added time due to the idiot who ran on.

was on one, that one at the end where he just let the Huddersfield player foul Bernardo and run clean through on goal summed it up, was just another hatchet job today but we weren't too fussed anyway.

As if to sum it up, that Huddersfield side, with all the niggling, tripping, pulling, pushing, defensive intensity etc. committed 4 fouls all game according to Mikey Mike. That's a foul every 22.5 minutes, so 1 a quarter. And for the 2nd successive home game, the visiting side, with all their men behind the ball, didn't give a single foul away in the first half. Every game since Everton away has been refereed in a very special way. Both Dippers games, the rags, Spurs away (Davies, Lloris, the pen), Swansea home (no fouls conceded by Swansea in the first half, West Ham away (no penalties), yesterday (no fouls again in the first half, and only 4 the entire game).

Dean's performance yesterday was a classic example of how an experienced referee can influence any match without having to give a major controversial decision that would be picked over and shown to be wrong. He couldn't guarantee Huddersfield the result and, had we not been on the beach, we'd have probably found a way through but what he did do was give them the best chance he could. Their objective was to stop us building any rhythm and he allowed them to do that through a series of soft fouls going their way but none ours, blatant time wasting and by carefully positioning himself to act as the 'extra man' to stop and/or delay passing movements. It was clear from the outset that he'd arrived with a game plan and it wasn't to help City celebrate in style.

If you think Mike Dean is that good and could do all that, you’ve seen something in him that I’ve never spotted. Incompetent showman who likes to make it all about him, then yes. A man who could do all what you’ve described? Never.

Of course the best bits were penalising our players for having the temerity to challenge for the ball and Huddersfield players throwing themselves to the ground resulting in free kicks. Their one chance of the second half resulting from Bernardo being completely flattened having dragged the ball away from anywhere near their player. Play on says Dean. It really is a fucking joke. Fortunately his shot was easily stopped by Eddy.
On another note just seen a penalty given for fuck all in a game in the same situ as Raheem has twice been kicked in the air and got nothing.
Refereeing in this country is truly shocking.
