I posted this in the post match but it’s relevant here. The fa changed the retrospective rule and it actually says: “the FA will reserve the right to take retrospective action when match officials are not in a position to fully assess a 'coming together' of players”. That is almost exactly the right law. The obvious flaw is that it requires Mason to say he wasn’t in a position to fully assess it. If he says that, it goes to the panel to be adjudicated on and he can get a three match ban. Problem is, he probably won’t say anything!I agree completely that the goal should have stood, that’s clear. I’m just laying the blame for that one with the linesman rather than Mason.
Regardless, I’m less arsed about that. It’s frustrating that such a good goal was wrongly ruled out, but the dangerous challenges that are consistently not being punished properly are the bigger concern for me. Something needs to be done about this as a matter of priority. It’s laughable that players can retrospectively be punished for diving, but not endangering an opponent’s safety (if they were booked at the time). The whole system is completely flawed.

The England team cop for a load of flack but at least they get there. I didn't know until tonight that none of ours are at the World Cup, it doesn't surprise me though, not from what I witness week in week out, as I said at best its incompetent, and at worst something else.
