Referees/Officials

You are right about that.

The PL do not help either by telling them that they have to interpret certain laws different to every other country. For instance, at the start of the season, the new handball interpretation which has now been changed back to what it was last year.

I also know that PL refs have been told to turn a deaf ear to foul or abusive language. A few PL refs alwys used the excuse they had not heard it because of the crowd. What is the excuse now then? Jack Grealish blatantly told the assistant to "fcuk off" last night & not a thing done about it.

A diificult job obviously made harder by the " powers that be " continually changing the directives to the point that supporters are clearly confused about what the correct rule applies, which untimately leads to criticism of the refs and their decision making.

I respect your opinion in reply to my question but find it hard to accept that the rags have been awarded so many penalty decisions correctly, and also many of the penalty decisions the dippers were awarded coutesy of Salah etc which imo were clear dives.

In my opinion those two teams get many favourable decisions which other teams do not, and is one of the main reasons for the rags being where they currently are .

Thanks again for replying to my post.

Old news about Mason. Mike Riley was told in 2012 he was believed to be a regular attender at Old Trafford in his younger days, almost certainly a season ticket holder. He doesn't care. He's just taking the piss.

Doesn't say much for the chance of impartiality or fairness then .

I do agree that they do seem to get more favourable decisions than the rest. They both tend to get "soft" penalties that other sides get waved away. I spoke to the assistant in one of our games when Sergio had his shirt tugged 2 times in the box during one run. He said he had asked Phil Dowd why he had ignored these 2 fouls, Dowd answered "it wasn't enough of a pull to give a pen". This does not apply to the current top 2

Probably because the authorities want to use the foul language as an excuse to not Mic up the referees for audiences. I mean Who wants greater transparency !!!

Haha. These days, they are given for the slightest of contacts.

If I remember correctly from my refereeing days, there weren't different degrees of a foul, there were just fouls. So a slight foul is the same as a serious foul in that they are both a foul, and both should be punished - with a penalty kick if necessary.

In addition, two 'minor' fouls going unpunished doen't excuse him from not giving the penalty. If anything, it confirms he is a cheat.

What's your take on the referees performances which many , myself included consider to be corrupt.

So in your opinion is it incompetence or corruption which is resulting in so many of these " penalties " and dubious VAR decisions ?

Have you seen the clip from the match of Pogba demanding that Shaw gets himself on the floor next time he gets bumped in the area?

I hate the use of Soft, to describe penalties. It either is or isnt a penalty. Theres no 3rd level, that soft has become.

It’s just a cop out as pundits are scared of calling out dive against certain teams....

Seen it and it epitomises Pogba. Cheating f*cker.

Maybe the FA should have a word, but they won't. Fu*cking guarantee there would be a media witch hunt if Raheem or Sergio had done that.

Shouldn't players be booked/dismissed for using foul and abusive language anyway?
Yet another law of the game that Old Mother Riley and his incompetent band consistently fails to implement.

Yesterday’s pen the rags got was clearly Pogbad tripping himself up, which I can accept at normal speed might/would get given, but surely that is the whole point of VAR and the pitchside monitor to make sure a correct decision is given. They even commented that it won’t get overturned, again why when it was clearly a mistake, he wasn’t fouled he tripped himself up ! That’s the 3rd time this season they have been gifted the opportunity of an extra 2 points. Fernandes is being hailed as mega star when he is clearly a cheat.
I’m not even gonna get started on how many times the dippers have been given pens, offsides, handballs etc, I knew the title was over last year as soon as Mane chucked himself on the floor in the last minute against Leicester at klanfield.
In a WhatsApp group with some pals I said after the resumption to last season that it will be rags & dippers fighting it out for the title this year and they said I must be mad- it’s clearly what the PL, the yanks and the media want.
Football as we knew it is done, and I’m off to kick the wife and watch a film with the dog .
