Referees' Performances | 2025/26

Pretty much agree. There was one dive at the Arsenal end in the first half he gave, and he's obviously more of a fan of wrestling than I expected - and then the clanger.

I'll be shocked if Walker vs Brighton in the FA Cup semifinal a few years ago isn't being cited as mitigation by the end of the day.

To be fair to him, I doubt that he’ll be deemed as wrong as such. More that at a PL level with the amount of scrutiny, most would give a red straight away.

He was fine bar the butt. We got the small decisions. He just let himself down with that pivotal decision. I can guarantee Arsenal fans will be fuming.

This was the season the league decided to hand the rags every single decision and gave bacon face his retirement gift, but they still give reds every time for that. We have VAR now and suddenly it's not a red?

Neville on Mcmanamman too. About 2004, exactly the same.

Why? What major decision did he make that he should have gave them? The only major decision he had was the sending off and he completely got it wrong. It's ok to be reasonable, but not at the expense of being right.
That’s my point. The little decisions he gave us. You could hear their fans cheer when they got a decision. He fucked the headbutt, but we got the little ones.

People on here are so fucking paranoid it’s unreal. Look at what fans of the clubs who are our rivals and what they say. We get all the decisions according to them. Not that that makes any difference. It’s just football fans.

He was fine today other than the headbutt, which should have been a red.

They make it up as they go along. It's fucking bent!

Yes, they do to an extent. They always have done. In the post VAR world though I’m now convinced they have to change the laws and be a lot more descriptive than they are. Personally I think thats a shame but it is what it is now.

So in the eyes of the rag ****, and VAR, Haaland & Gabriel were both deserving of the same sanction. One threw his head, the other didn't.

I don't care how decent he was for the rest of the game, the referee is there to get the BIG decisions right.

We all know what would've happened if it was the other way round.

Go figure.

I'm too happy to keep going back and forth! We'll agree to disagree. Have a good un Langley.

This ref, probably the same thing.

I think you're right there. The ref will say 'no force involved' and that will be that.

I'm sure there are plenty of examples of similar leading to red cards.

Samir and the other one thousand players that have been red carded for the exact same head butting motion
Is absolutely the correct answer.
We have all seen this exact type of incident happen in other games that almost inevitably ends in a red card.
It’s a red card incident.
The ref & var have had shockers with the big decisions, again.
