Referees' Performances | 2025/26

the no starting in the 6 yard box is just going to create a massed charge, and enormous delays in assessing which ones of the countless inevitable collisions are a foul.

I don't think it's a conspiracy either, some of the comments you see on here are absurd, but I do think there is some sort of bias in some quarters.

I think it's the opposite, refs are making decisions (like the West Ham goal yesterday) then VAR are looking for reasons to overrule him. There was no one clear and obvious foul yesterday (as Carragher said in the post match there were probably about 10 fouls in there), it's the same in every match at every corner so they give the goal. Then for whatever reason VAR very clearly went looking for a reason not to give it. 37 times it was replayed by them apparently, then another 17 times for the refs review. But ONLY the Raya incident was reviewed. If you have to review anything that many times then it's not a clear and obvious error.

Your first sentence. So how do you explain the pl having a plan ?

Arsenal have literally been handed this title on a plate

From the goal against United on opening day
To the handball against Newcastle in September not given as a penalty before an injury time winner
Gabriel not being set off against us or newcastle
The penalty not given to Everton in a 1-0 win
The penalty not given to Brighton in a 1-0 win
Every single set piece they are allowed to cheat

Couple that with the decisions against us
Dalot sending at at 0-0 in the derby
Foden penalty in Newcastle defeat
Bruno offside for the goal in the same Newcastle game
Kean red card against Everton in 3-3 draw

There’s a theme
They tell you it doesn’t affect the season as whole but VAR have influenced all these close call matches

Solanke “goal” against us for Spurs as well

I can have a whinge and moan about the way were treated by referee's quite a lot and normally it's because I'm annoyed at something that happened in the game because we expect perfect refereeing which lets be honest, we're never going to get but, that's a part of supporting a football team. However, after last night and looking back at some of the crazy decisions Arsenal have go their way this season is absolute madness. How many times this season they've done worse in the opposition box and got goals out of it. Even last week against Everton, I said it was never a foul when Donnarumma was getting budged out the way when Everton scored but if we're going by that logic, it should've been disallowed and we should have won.

I really try not to get in the whole premier league is corrupt because it puts a downer on it all but last night, it really does look like it even more and I really do think some clubs, especially us need to speak out against it or nothing will change.

Agree with all that least any of our games where we got away with something that got us a goal!? I know it want be as much! But Arsenal for me have gained a minimum of say 4/6 points

No swings and roundabouts with Arsenal
Premier League are desperate for them to win it
Absolute joke of a decision yesterday
Tbh I was more disappointed for West Ham, that decision will probably send them down. If we don’t win the league it’s because we were poor too many times but we’ll return to fight next season. West Ham won’t.

Fucking great post

Every single Arsenal player is grabbing pulling and fouling the West Ham players, but they only highlight the so-called foul on Arsenal's keeper ?

It's every week, Arsemal defending corners and free kicks by holding pulling blocking. But dare you use the same tactics. It's easy picking from the match officials ? seek and you will find or turn a blind eye and wave it away

That is the control to help or punish teams
If they disallow every Arsenal goal from corners or free kicks because the Arsenal players were pulling pushing blocking fouling to gain an advantage then West Ham's goal was rightly ruled a foul

That is the cheat and control the match officials have ? The Game is Now About 3 teams playing a game of football

Just watched the West Ham goal again
Apparently the foul on the keeper come before the two fouls from Declan rice
Fine
What about trossard holding the West Ham #19 player back, who then has to put his arm accords the goal keeper.
That is obviously before the keeper is fouled by the #19
Completely ignored because they have found the still of the fouls they wanted to find

With regards to the bit in bold, West Ham won 3 of their first 21 games. If they go down it'll be because they were poor too many times.

Its ok for there to be more than one reason for them to go down.
Right, but the person I was quoting said that if City don't win the league it'll be because we've been poor too many times but that West Ham would be sent down by the Raya/VAR decision. Teams finish where they finish for multiple reasons, yes, and chief among those who finish below their desired target is always that they weren't good enough.

What's interesting about that image is that it shows just how far everyone moved. The ref was shown a fraction of that which gives no context as to how everyone ended up in a muddle of arms, shirt pulls etc.

My own opinion is that it's a clear foul, but, particularly with Arsenal, fouls at corners have been ignored, and there must be half a dozen at that corner alone. If it's a normal corner, where the only incident was the Declan Rice holding, then it's a penalty. But if everyone is holding, dragging, pulling, then you can't single out one incident.

If you live by the sword, you also die by the sword.
