Referees' Performances | 2025/26

Ref should have signaled play on then gone back and sent him off. Even though Doku rode the challenge it was still reckless and out of control. I guarantee we'll see lesser challenges that results in a sending off this season.
If the ref is going to send a player off, he has to stop the game

I see your point but they don’t even apply those bent rules consistently. No way Ortega handles outside his area in the Cup Final and stays on the pitch. Remember VAR stopped the game,(in the Cup Final) but then didn’t send the ref to the monitor. I’d love to know what went on in that 5 mins… someone intervened and changed the decision - VAR saw the offence, raised it and then backed down. Clear corruption in a show piece final and the media said nothing.
Ortega?

I’d forgotten about Walton. What a City hating bastard he was!

Grey was the ref who penalised Kevin Reeves for the hitherto unknown offence of ‘illegal jumping’ at Anfield in the ‘81 League Cup semi, and in the process robbed us of a place at Wembley.

Wilkie was the ref who sent off Cantona at Selhurst Park. He didn’t then ref United at the Swamp for over a year and when he did, to curry favour with claret conk, he awarded United a truly preposterous penalty in a FA Cup tie against City that to this day no-one has ever been able to explain what it was for
Oh no . I'm going to be having alf Grey and Wilkie flashbacks again .... time for a strong coffee

What was that Spanish ref called who sent Pep off and disallowed Sane's goal Vs Liverpool? Now he was both a twat and a shockingly bad referee. Thankfully he's retired.

You mean dangerous, not reckless? Reckless is just a yellow card, dangerous is a red.

The wording ‘out of control’ isn’t in the LotG. But ‘using excessive force’ is.

It would be very interesting to know what was being said here at half-time. Maybe there aren't any rules against it, but I don't think managers should be talking to refs at halftime, after what I saw in the second half, it just seems dodgy.

I did wonder at the time what was going on, maybe Alonso thought his bias wasn't up to standard.

He certainly seemed to get worse in the second half and balancing the bookings up later on is typical shithouse refereeing especially as it still bore no resemblance to what yellow/red totals which should have been awarded.
