Referees' Performances | 2025/26

I've watched a lot of football during the last 60 years and seen a lot of poor refereeing performances. I'm watching the rags v Sunderland now (willing Sunderland on) and this ref is easily in my top ten of worst performances.
Between the ref and VAR they've just disallowed a penalty claim for Sunderland after a rag player challenged a Sunderland player with a raised boot similar to Nicos raised boot against Monaco. One pen given and one not. No consistency at all.
Next, a Sunderland player refused a penalty and given a yellow for simulation. Watch it on Match of the Day tonight and see if you think that would have been the same decision if against any other club (maybe Dippers).
The standard of refereeing and VAR is getting worse not better. Just my view.

Why does a long throw get a minute to dry the ball, pinch 10 yards and then launch it in but O'Reilly is booked for taking 10 seconds to find a man to throw to?

Not having that he wasted more time than Kayode on throw ins today.
They were losing, so can take as long as they want

Bent Scouse loving bastard

Books one of our for having a free kick aimed at him but ignored the cunts blocking our quick one a few minutes before.

Surprised he didn't disallow Erling's goal claiming the Viking was fouling the defender.
Think he is more Arsenal than Dipper though loves both but when Arsenal played the Dippers the other season, he ignored a blatant penalty for handball against Arsenal, just as he did last weekend for them at Newcastle.
No bookings for time wasting over Arsenals NFL set pieces last week, or for the length of time towel drying and encroachment today yet we get a booking for taking much less time over 1.
Numerous foul throws, throws and corners wrongly given against us, he did everything he could today,
The Nunes booking was also a joke, by the same ref who didnt book Saka twice last week, ignored a punch by Gabriel and didnt give a 2nd card against Carifuiri.
Just 1 week between the games, and a total difference in his officiating, clear as day cheating

Subtle performance today by the ref. He'll get more important games with us in after that

When he failed to give a free kick for the foul on Savinho in the first two minutes,it was clear how he intended to influence the game.
He didn’t give many free kicks today. Thought he was fine, time wasting booking aside.

He’s been far worse in other games for us.

Giving them a corner for Donna's kick getting deflected was utter shithouse from him, at least he gave a fair amount of added time though he still added 45 seconds for no reason.

The handball he gave against Doku(?) late on, where he couldn't possibly have seen it, and the Lino looking straight at the incident and didn't raise his flag epitomised his 'performance' today.

As others have said, subtle, borderline blatant cheating.
Yep Saw that

Has there ever been a refereeing performance that hasn’t been described as blatant cheating on here?

They’re probably scheduled posts.

Brentford's saintlyness must be applauded.
I dont remember any fouls being committed within 20odd yards of their goal.

They seemed to commit all of their fouls, miles away from any possible pressure

Strange, that.
