Reform 2025 Limited new name same business

Noticed a major pro Reform media push today.

Reform have been very clever in that they have used the traditional silly season to make announcement after announcement thus capturing the attention of a media that otherwise is starved of contents and would have to report on jumble sales and the Ugliest sheep competition at a county show somewhere. The major parties have been caught on the hop.

Not exactly is it though? Spreading fear and division and then claiming to be the only party capable of sorting it. Paraded and platformed by a sycophantic MSM in ghoulish fashion -we seem hell bent on having a far right government-people should be appalled at the prospect.
The msm imo were far from sycophantic when I listened to the questions following the announcements.

Infact I also think the BBC commentator back in the studio had been on a different planet than me when Mr Farage was talking.

I actually thought the media were quite dismissive and obsessed with questions about people being tortured should they be deported back to their country of origin.

they've also totally hijacked social media - must of had alot of help from their friends in Russia and America.

Apparently one of his brilliant ideas is to deport Afghans back to Afghanistan and pay the Taliban a bounty for each one they take. He's no idea how it will work but it makes a good headline for some
For whom would "We'll pay the Taliban" be a good headline?

Zia Yusuf said today Reform would pay countries to take migrants so of course they are ready to work with them - all those pro-Reform pro -Nigel people happy with paying a terrorist group? I mean its not like they couldn't take that money to use to attack British assets is it? .......

The Taliban: "We are prepared to work with anyone who can help end the struggles of Afghan refugees, as we know many of them do not have a good life abroad."

Now, I wonder why you might be a refugee from Afghanistan? I bet the Taliban would love to "take care" of a few of them when they return. Being paid to do so, sounds like a real win/win.

Without paying to read the rest of the article, is the Telegraph saying it's a good thing for the Taliban "to support any Afghans deported" (after fleeing from the Taliban)?

It sounds a bit like that scene in 51st State where the guy is asked to "take care of" someone and offs him, only to realise the boss meant take care of him in a nice way.

The article isn't that bad - it covers quite a range of issues, and suggests it might not be so easy. They report that thew UK Government had been refusing more Afghan asylum claims from people they think the Taliban won't be interested in. They do however point out that where the Taliban are interested (including people who worked with the UK), they've faced persecution and arrest.

On a side note, the 51st State clearly pales into comparison with the all time classic mix up, "take out Nicholas Parsons" in the Comic Strip's Mr Jolly Lives Next Door.

Surely can’t be that confident with everything that’s happened in recent votes?

Very confident, time to the election, fptp, not sure Farage even wants it, Tories will move further into their territory if needed.

I am concerned the direction the country is going in though.

And again BBC/Sky drop everything to listen to the policies of a leader with only 4 MPs.

Not seen them do that with The Greens who have more, or the Lib Dems.

Enabling Farage and his army of hate.

It maybe uncomfortable but with the polls and the crossings continuing at a rate, it would be a bit undemocratic to not cover it, they are currently a big story. People could do with trying to nullify them..
Ignoring the problem is the only reason why they are even a thing.

I’m struggling to envision the next PM after Starmer

In the article on this story on MSN I commented that the most likely way The Taliban would welcome back its returning citizens would be to introduce them to the crowds swinging from the end of a crane jib. It got pulled. Odd that our US friends supposedly love freedom of speech but only when it suits them and perhaps is a truer representation of the situation.

Farage reminds me a lot of Corbyn tbh, in that I don’t think either of them at any point in their careers actually wanted to run the country, they want to be chiming in from the outside.

Agree fully with your second sentence, worrying times.

Now I. know you are trolling

The ECHR doesn't stop any nation signed up from deporting criminals back to their home nations, you are specifically talking about non refoulment, which is internationiall law not just ECHR and a proccess which will only be considered if those under deproration orders decide to appeal

In the last 35 years less than 20 appeals have been made and only 4 upheld
Doesn't it ?
Its not just me ...

David Blunkett has said the same.

I agree it will be complex and difficult, as it seems are all our problems, but I do not subscribe to the view that it is better do nothing because it might be hard to do. It needs to be done .
I agree with your statement something has to be done, but it is playground politics to think we can sort it out unilaterally.

The international community has to collectively come to an agreement for there to be an effective solution, and the UK leaving the ECHR isn't going to help with that in any way.

You have offered no solution to, as you say, a complex problem like the Good Friday Agreement, which hasn't come as a surprise.

It was interesting today, listening to Farage banging on about governments working to protect the safety and security of the populace, or words to that effect, without any consideration his intention to leave the ECHR will imperil the safety of a region of the country he hopes to be in charge of.

Easy solutions to complex problems are ten a penny, especially when you don't have to prove you have the answers.
