Reform 2025 Limited new name same business

Thanks I don't get it on here mate. I get it living in England. Three times since Brexit I've been racially abused by strangers and the toxic atmosphere right now does make us think can we live here safely? Murders like Bhim Kohli in Leicestershire being an example let alone flags being used by the far right to intimidate and divide.
What a country we have become. I have Jewish friends saying exactly the same thing. Hate seems to be our growth industry.

The country needs competent brave leadership and I very much doubt that any political party is capable of providing it. Reform are about as capable of running this country as Hamas are of running Gaza. One track to nowhere. Similar to France, it looks like we are living beyond our means and we need leaders who try to get us back to 'reality' rather than the kiddie politics of the far right and far left. Starmer and Reeves are far, far from perfect but they come across to me as realistic triers. At the moment Labour are by far the best of an admittedly very poor bunch.

You're right. Unfortunately there are many on here who seem to think a swtich can be flicked and all should be well. Life, and politics are not like that.

Councillors getting so many emails asking for flags on lampposts to be removed.

Ugly on the outside, ugly on the inside.
Improved beauty usually follows a facelift of some sort.
Her ugliness appears to have been accentuated - presumably by a facedrop.

If it's natural, perhaps the old Les Dawson line should be invoked: when she was born, she was so ugly that the midwife slapped the mother.

I agree with you to a large extent - the operative word is "..means.."
That's where we have choices.
It became fashionable not to tax and not to spend in the age of austerity. We can emerge from that by taxing more and maybe enjoying a better society. No-one has the urge to grasp that nettle, it seems. Or, there's the further option of going down the Reform route and looking after the rich and fuck everyone else: austerity with aggression - "on speed." The Trumpian way.

Let's hope so!

Should they ever "Get in", I'll have to get in as well.........a small boat to France. You're welcome to join me.
There's a thing called animal spirits....

"Animal spirits" in politics refers to the irrational psychological and emotional factors influencing public confidence and sentiment, which, in turn, drive collective economic and political behaviours, such as voting patterns, investment decisions, and overall stability.

And all this flag waving and unite the kingdom stuff is exactly that, a general anxiety and unhappiness, tinged with an unfocused existential dread, it's visceral and powerful and effects folk who wouldn't normally consider themselves political. And because it's unfocused and emotional it's difficult to combat with rationality and facts based policy. But just as these animal spirits can flare up quickly they can just as easily die away unless they're immediately harnessed and directed, usually down a dark path, by bad faith actors.

Farage and Robinson have tried to harness it, but they don't have the means and time is not on their side, but it is for Labour, they need to use it wisely.

Polls mean jack shit this far out from a general election, the stark reality for Farage is while he's sat at his table at GB News lying to his believers, Starmer is at his Cabinet Table in No 10.

You'd better have a word with Starmer then; tell him it's time to stop fucking-up.

Fueled by social media bullshit.

I cut off a friend yesterday who told another mate who's already suffering from mental health issues that 40 illegal immigrants are being moved into his block of flats this weekend.

His source?

"Face book and a mate who works for the council..."

That 'mate' is a reform councillor.

I did some digging and debunked it. When I confronted my friend about it with the evidence I was "talking lefty bollocks".

Animal spirits is a new one on me but a great way of putting it.

That march in London sort of highlighted their support's main problem. There's too many things to hate and too many factions that hate different things/each other. Ultimately, their organisation of the march just exposed how unorganised the whole thing is.

We’ve always been that country, really.
1971 NF marches with slogans like; ‘kick blacks out’, ‘stop immigration - jobs and houses for whites’ and ‘put Britons first’.

The UK, like many countries I’d imagine, has rarely been at ease with itself and the slightest fissure is immediately riven by selfish people with their own aggrandisement always at the forefront of their actions.

There were etho nationalists, Christian nationalists and civic nationalists on that march, there were fascists, racists, free speech campaigners, TERFs and a whole bunch of folk who couldn't tell you why they were there, beyond being pissed off with the state of things.

You try to unify that broad church and it'll be like herding cats.

Except it's never had this traction before.

This is the opposite of know your enemy.

Getting it wrong about Farage supporters, over and over again, is why he's the most influential politician of the last decade.

In the last Ipsos poll at the end of September Reform were on 34%, 12pts ahead of Labour. That's tens of millions of people who say they'll vote for Farage and potentially put him into No 10. If you believe the message above that means tens of millions of our fellow citizens are racists and xenophobes.

The Tory message on multiculturaism, because this is what it's really all about, is indistinguishable from Reform, They want to leave the ECHR, they're promising to deport 750,000 migrants, well they're on 14%, that makes 48% of Brits who want this sorta stuff.

And they're all racists and xenophobe?

These memes are designed to make left leaning folk feel good about themselves, they serve no other purpose.

Many are, theres no doubt about that. Many have been taken in by constant messaging that immigration and immigrants are responsible for bad things happening in the country. Many I would guess feel let down by major parties and are looking for an alternative, any alternative.

One thing for sure, for those supporters of reform that arent racist and xenophobic. They dont have any problems overlooking racism and xenophobia (not to mention dishonesty) displayed by their party leaders and representatives. And I wonder what that says about them.
