Refugee crisis

Very well said imho mate.

Sort of, we should be taking refugees already here in Europe as well as from the camps. We are effectively saying to our European partners that the large numbers of refugees in continental Europe is their problem. We'll cherry pick a relatively small number from the camps and sell that as doing our bit to a gullible British public.

My first reaction would have been to pick him up,not photograph him.
Exactly people often film and video events now it's crazy quick take a picture? No how about don't take a picture and try and help! it's the world we live in now sadly. So sad for the little boy god bless him

Been thinking about this for some reason today.

It's disgusting that it's taken what it has for people to wake the fuck up and realise we are all human. You have to love watching all of the right wing racists (Within parliament, the media, and the general idiots) all going back on the bullshit they've preached for years and showing they are willing to sell out their ideologies for the sake of jumping on the bandwagon. Media and Politcians being the worst of the lot.

They're too cowardly to keep going with their selfish ways cause of photos on a beach. Their first stance has been totally blown out because the real humanity has been shown. Media at its finest.

Plenty of left-wing haters of Camerom and the Tories been spouting off on social media that the PM should be looking after all those less well off people in this country rather than let the refugees in so this racism you speak of isn't just confined to the right.

So what is right?
Having some empathy and doing what we can to help.

Taking our fair share of refugees and financially & logistically supporting the countries that, due to geography, are taking the greatest burden - Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan.

the 800,000 that Germay is reported to be taking in i assume they will be given German citizenship and being of German citizenship can travel freely within the European Union and can legally enter the United Kingdom?

Initially they'll be given safe haven. Citizenship will come after that.

Well done Germany and Austria:

A real example to the rest of the world. The sight of the voluteers handing out food and water to the refugees arriving has restored my faith in humanity (The woman giving sweets to the little children really made me smile, did get a little dust in my eye I must admit). I really do feel ashamed to be British sometimes. We are Great Britain for f**ks sake. As a country we should be leading the way. Where are the American and British governments who's illegal invasion of Iraq and arming of Syrian rebels caused all this?
My hat off to all the local charities and groups doing collections of food and clothes etc to be taken to the refugees in Calais. We really are a compassionate people but our government have been an absolute disgrace.
This is now not a political, religious or economic issue. It is a humanitarian issue. We have a duty to help these fellow human beings in desperate need.

Germany I salute you!

+1 to the post though

If you add up the 5,000 in France plus the 7,000 from Syria who have apparently applied you get the average home gate for Burnley.

So if that would over burden and strain the country what sort of idiot would believe that?

I thought that myself at first and I share the bewilderment at photo obsessives, however without the picture this discussion wouldn't be happening to the extent it has been.
