If you don’t already….get a duo ticket on Northern rail when two people travel together, will save you 25% or if you’re a frequent train user get a two travel together railcard (now £24 on the website) which saves you a third.
Also, it might be worth checking prices from Lancaster, people sometimes go north (to Lancaster) to come back south because it’s a lot cheaper, mainly the London trains but it might be worth a look

Yeh I’ve got a rail card mate makes some difference! Got train tickets from Glasgow to Piccadilly for less than £30 for Bournemouth game

For midweek games I have started using the megabus.
Okay it is a longer journey but more reliable than tpe..

I have had no problems midweek travelling West Coast usually changing at Preston.

She’ll drive down and stays with me. She tried for a season ticket, which I think would have been a mistake. But now all the tickets are on sale for the whole season, she feels she needs to buy them all!! She was a season ticket holder for 20 years, then married a Scot. But like some addiction, she can’t give it up!!
