Refusal to pay energy bills

No it wouldn't work.

They advertise their pricing before you use the product.
If you don't want to pay the price then don't use the product.
If you use it and then don't pay then it's stealing.
Not using the product is almost impossible, We now live in houses that have no open fireplace, no chimney not even a back to back oven. Back to the seventies when interest rates went through the roof and the wages kept to the minimum.
There is not much choice only pay the bill use as little as possible, food and warm clothing banks for the majority. Public protest and vote in the local and general elections for change.

It's whether you believe it's all by design, that's the thing. I sure you are aware of the "You will own nothing and be happy" comment? Whatever happens mate, I mean you no malice...Just like I said, it's perspective and opinion and that should never be something that divides us, which is the name of the game IMO.

It’s certainly by design- not in a cloak and dagger way but just the system that was consciously designed has structural weaknesses.

The west, including the UK, needs to relook at these vulnerabilities and make strategic decisions - I appreciate it’s a bit after the horse has bolted currently but doesn’t mean we should do nothing going forward. Our taxes will need to go up at some point to pay for the sort of structural insurances necessary to protect us as much as is reasonably possible from shock events. If we aren’t prepared to pay for it then we can’t complain when it goes wrong. The trouble is we’re so used to expecting problems being solved without it impacting us - and our politicians have been playing along with that for years. You’ve only got to look at environmental policies to see they aren’t prepared to tell us we all have to pay, it’s always someone else - or something else - will fix it.

To your last point, absolutely agree mate - our whole political system is designed to divide us. If left/right actually stopped arguing for 5 minutes they’d see we all pretty much want the same thing - we may disagree on the how, but not the why. Thankfully we have politicians who can keep us arguing ;)
