Relaxation of FFP rules due to Covid-19

I’m genuinely lost here. You’re saying or inferring that you’re not being allowed to participate but I can’t understand why? You’ve got probably pound for pound the best squad in the world, you’ve just beaten Real in the QF 1st leg and will do them again in the second leg most likely. Whatever’s going on off the field and remains up in the air, but it hasn’t stopped you being competitive in the market in the FFP era and being extremely successful on the pitch. I’ll repeat again, I’m not winding anyone up and if I’m missing something, I’m all ears to be told otherwise.

Are you aware that the club have had to appeal to CAS recently to try and overturn an attempt by UEFA to ban us from the CL ?

I believe ( along with many others ) that this is a ploy brought to frustrate our progress in the CL , by imposing severe financial restraints upon the club. A two year ban upheld, with the loss of CL income, and the consequences are blindingly clear .

As FFP was introduced to restrict the competition upon the G14 clubs , it is surely not too difficult to believe that many of the inner circle " might" have applied pressure upon UEFA to bring the renewed charges against us.

And not forgetting the actions of a number of PL clubs , LFC included, who have added their voices to the actions of UEFA, in the event of the charges being upheld. Now referred to on this forum as the " Hateful 8 ".

I don't intend to respond again because I know that you are not stupid, but your continued stance that you do not understand seriously grates. You understand perfectly well what FFP and UEFA are about , together with the influence brought about by the G14 clubs.

I’ll leave it there, mate, I don’t think we’re going to agree. Your whole argument is based on ‘what ifs’ and ‘it’s not hard to believe it might happen’. That’s fine but it’s not the basis for a proper debate. All I’ve said is that your progress in the CL has been very good, you’ll probably go on and win it and this is down to your performances, no more no less. You seem to view this as plucky little City taking on the big bad wolves. That’s a rather skewed approach in my opinion, there’s a little more nuance and complexity to the argument. No worries though, have a nice day.

Over £300m, that's the only way they've come close to us. The Coutinho money is irrelevant because the money spent is on the pitch. You sell a house for £130k and buy one for £300k, you still have a £300k house.

You’ve spent nearly £300m on your defence alone, never mind elsewhere. Your example would have a lot more weight and indeed self awareness if you’d spent nowhere near what we had when in fact the polar opposite is true. What an odd way to try and make an ultimately fatuous point.

They’re predominantly £30m players, not a vast amount to spend in today’s market. There’s also a free transfer in there (Matip) and a player who predates Klopp (Firmino). As I’ve said, the secret of our success is top quality coaching making good players into great ones. Of course we’ve spent a lot of money comparatively speaking, but it’s utterly dwarfed by the money others have spent. That’s the game we’re in though; the big bucks are king.
Firmino cost 37m in 2015.
The notion that you've magically turned a bang average team into contenders by top coaching and the youth system is nonsense.

Why are you arguing with this pecker ? He's brainwashed himself into believing what they all believe and what their placemen in the media tell him.

It was actually £29m but it remains that he was signed by Rodgers.
Nonsense? How many players can you name that have been signed by Klopp and their career has gone backwards? I’ll give you Karius and in the spirit of generosity, I don’t think Keita has really hit top form. I’ll be interested to hear the others who you don’t think have improved under his tutelage.

You should read my posts more carefully, I have little to zero interest in media coverage of football. I base my thoughts on over forty years of going to football, not what some paid hack subjectively thinks of something.

Ah, so you've based your opinion on 40 years of watching Liverpool. That explains a lot.

That’s not what I said, is it?

What I said was that I don’t need the media to form nor validate my opinions. I know there’s a massive amount of stock placed in what the media say on here, but each to their own, I suppose.

The fact is you only compete because Klopp's broken transfer records, spent hundreds of millions of pounds to fix his squad's weaknesses coupled with a couple of undervalue purchases from your owner's mates at Roma.

It's not down to any magic, you've hired a good manager, spent a fortune and won the league when the incumbents had an off year.

You've just followed the model and combined it with Ferguson tactics and a dose of favours to ensure the success.

Nothing remarkable in the slightest, and much less exciting and entertaining than the trail blazers whose model you copied.

Nice of you to be our tribute act though.
