Religion

This thread was bumped seeing the injustice in Ukraine. We are forced to content that 'Life is unfair', yet our innate nature longs for justice. Similarly, we long for eternity, a better and healthy life, a meaning for life beyond the material and a conscience that refuses to accept that the universe didn't come on its own. God gave religion not for Him, but for our own contentment.

God didn't simply create us and left us in the dark about Him. Christianity and Islam proselytize because they believe the knowledge of the Divine will help the people. Wouldn't you share something that which you know will benefit others ?

From God's perspective, He created human beings so that He can show His mercy.
Qur'an 11:119 "Except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them."
Being the Creator, God has full authority to dictate the terms in this relationship. Of course, there is no compulsion in religion (Qur'an 2:256) and compulsion doesn't work either as faith has to come from within to be meaningful.
Who but an absolute nutcase longs for eternity? What you did there was quote words a man thought and wrote. Thats it. A man. Who had no more access to god than you and I.

Yes, except in extreme situations, existing with evil around is better than non-existing. Or do you have a better alternative world ?
Yes, stop believing in a whole lot of utter shite and accept reality. That would be a start. And leave pork and shelfish alone. Grown adults buying any god woud ban these things is a fuckibg easiy controlled Muppet. Embarressing.

Just remember some benevolent, loving, peaceful and forgiving god wants you to spend eternity in flames for saying that.

Probably because there is/are,no real, honest answers.

And the mumbo jumbo replies just raise more uncomfortable questions

Blind faith can be ridiculous and worse, very dangerous.
absolutely agree mate

i suspect the answer is no, actually i know the answer is no
but is so indoctrinated cannot/dare not go against the word of a book

quite sad and depressing

I was chatting with my wife, yesterday, as we passed a church being converted into apartments. To most people, religion is now an irrelevance that has no influence on behaviour. Good people will continue to be open and honest with others, tolerant, helpful and respectful, regardless of whether a higher being will welcome them into their beautiful community or shun them for the fiery depths of torment. As the influence of religion ebbs away, there will always be those who pursue a more strict version of it, attempting to enforce their will upon those who have shifted away, desperate to cling on to a way of life that they believe is being lost and finding terrible discomfort in more laissez-faire attitudes. If religion really espouses tolerance, they will find their own peace in allowing others to make their own path.

Or the best way is to create a world which
  • permits humans to exercise their capabilities, both good and bad
  • show where each choices would lead them to
  • allow repentance and forgiveness
  • experience the joys and struggles of life developing patience and perseverance
  • fulfill the duties to oneself, family and society
  • live in submission, hope, optimism and fear of the justice of God
  • while developing a clean heart free of arrogance, envy, boastfulness etc.
and then resurrect them into the ideal world (heaven) where
  • they can live with the righteous in the presence of their Lord
  • where there is no evil or fear or pain or aging or fatigue
  • the potential for resentment is taken away and therefore no violence or conflicts (Qur'an 15:47)
  • everyone gets what they desire and they can choose to work or not work
  • all the while having a sense of accomplishment for their deeds in the previous life (Qur'an 69:19)
You've just described a tyrant.

You don't 'love' God at all, you fear Him.
