Relocating The Away Fans: Your Preferred Choice

Is it just me that doesn't give a shit where the away fans go? The biggest argument for moving the away fans is to improve the atmosphere for the home fans in the stadium but most of the best atmospheres we've had have come from banter being directed at the away fans from both sides because of the position they've been given in the stadium.

Atmosphere is also generated naturally no matter where the away fans are. You're always going to have a better atmosphere for a derby than a home game against, say, Fulham. It's just natural. We're good enough to win games without having to rely on atmosphere so why should anything change? I find that teams who rely on their 12th man only do so because the 11 on the pitch aren't good enough, but ours certainly are.

Banter isn't atmosphere. It may be enjoyable for those taking part but it has negligible effect on the noise levels in the stadium.

But that's how it's created.

Tell me, when we've finished doing the Poznan and we all turn around to shout "City! City! City!" etc., who is we direct the fist pumping at? That's right, away fans.

Moving the away fans will free up 1500 extra seats in the kippax that will sell out to season ticket holders. Where fans can sit and watch the game in peace.(and quiet)

It will also mean away fans will have to pay a premium price if they are moved to EL3. If they away fans don't fill their full allocation, their seats can then be sold to home fans instead.

EL3 seats are one of the poorest sellers in the stadium. Along with CBL3 they always sell out the last.

One more point. Wouldn't it be great if we had all 3 tiers of the SS. A similar end behind the goal like the KOP, Stretford End, AC"s and Inter's end at the San Siro, etc.

EL3 for me.

The noisiest it gets at City in the first half of non derby games, with the current stadium lay out, is a few choruses of "We were here when we were sh*t". Then everyone shuts up and lets the away fans get on with making the noise.

It can pick up in the second half when we get a couple of goals (which is when the Poznan comes out), but that's nothing to do with banter. Its the goal that creates the atmosphere

with the increased capacity I would like to see the away teams get more tickets at affordable prices. No or few away fans makes for a dull atmosphere.

It's not so much the ticket price as the cost of the whole day and moving games for TV, Monday night for Newcastle, normally a full allocation for them but I bet not this time, or midweek in London makes it near impossible to get their without taking time off work and spending twice as much as the ticket to get their and have some refreshment.

TV is the biggest cause of atmosphere death, you sell your soul and then you have to pay up.
