Remembrance Day

In Canberra in Australia, they do The Last Post every evening at the cenotaph there.
The RSL (Royal Service Legion ?) clubs in Sydney do it at 6pm every night.
Australia lost so many young men in 2 wars they were dying out as a country and so the £10 Pom scheme was introduced.
That's frightening. Your country has no young men, they are all dead and so you have to recruit people because you fought a war 6,000 miles from home.
We, Britain lost many good men but please bear a thought for all those in the 'empire'.
Kenyans, New Zealanders, Aussies brave brave men

Spent the weekend in London to go to the Cenotaph and watch the whole thing, it was a beautiful autumn morning down there, as ex military it was fantastic to see and later I sat in a pub with some Falklands veterans watching the game we were all suitably well oiled by then, fantastic weekend.

There’s a group of us that go to either Normandy, Flanders or the Somme every year .
This year we went to the Somme for the anniversary of the start of one of the bloodiest battles of WW1 .
We went to the Hawthorn Ridge crater where one of the huge detonations took place , at 7.15 we took a tot of rum and at 7.30 we set off from the sunken lane and went over the top and walked upto the crater .
There were probably a couple of hundred people of different nationalities aging from young children to FOC’s like myself walking in the footsteps of soldiers in what must of been hell on earth .
After the service we were invited by the mayor of Beaumont to go to the village where the locals had laid out refreshments for everyone , they couldn’t welcome us enough .
We should never forget the sacrifice that they made .
My Grandfather was killed in October 1917 in Belgium 'blown to pieces' it said on his service record. Thank you for visiting the battlefields in their honour.
His son, my father, was born in January 1918 so he never met his only son, there were three daughters (fearsome ladies they grew into but with hearts of gold) but daft as it sounds I always felt that it was horrible that he never knew he had a son.
:-)

It was the rent a mob Palestine And their useful idiot friends
Before I went in 1 of them Tried to shove a leaflet at me
I won't repeat what I said on here, but if he was from The Gaza then I'm from Skaro
They were chanting down down UAE or something...so against our owners. Saying UAE are funding Sudan war? Sudanese human rights activists and campaigners?

Not sure how they expected us to give them any sympathy?

They must be overwhelmed by their chance to protest freely over here, however I hope everyone gave the compo faced fuckers the bums rush.

Silly cunts doing it during a remembrance service. Most blues just looked at them bewildered.

Police had to protect them. Fuck all to do with football.

If they knew about how special the day was then it would have been a water cannon moment, the disrespect is off the charts with some of our guests.

These weren’t the ones I saw. The ones I saw before the game were a mix of white people and a few Arabic looking people who had two drummers with them.

They had signs and were handing out flyers about why they think Israel should be banned from international football and Israeli teams should be banned from Europe and were singing ‘ban Israel from FIFA…ban Israel from UEFA’ to the drum beat.

They’re the ones I could hear, from inside the stadium, still going for it with the same drum style beat outside the stadium when it went quiet before and during The Last Post.

These were opposite the south stand

As I work for the town council its my job to ensure the parade goes smoothly. Our main job its to enforce the road closures.
The parade is well attended.

I'll start with a funny story, one of the ex military guys was walking past me when his sole of his shoe fell. He tried to walk on abit more but the shoe just fell apart. He asked me ' what time does the parade start ' ? I told him he said 'ive got time to get my work boots from the car'.
10 minutes later the guy comes walking back with the dirtiest, tastiest horrible pair of grey working boots you have ever seen, with his best suit on lol. He saw the funny side but he wasn't going to miss not being in the parade.

When doing road closures any road that has a long clear run to the road closures we use a vehicle to block, to stop someone running into the crowd.
I was on a side road with just barriers across the road at the point of the parade route.
A car stops at the barriers and gets his kids out ready to watch the band and parade go past.
Then a white van comes up behind the car drives up on the pavement to get round the car and barriers into the parade. He couldnt see the parade because it was about 20 yards away from the junction.
Without thinking I jumped in front of the van to stop him, which he did then revisered back, after giving me verbal.
This twat didnt want to wait 5 minutes let alone pay his respects as the parade went past
But what twat drives up on a pavement to get round barriers. The road is closed for a reason.

This innocent will mean us replanning road closures now and how do we stop vehicles driving on the pavement at the same time as allowing the pedestrians through.
