Replacing Micah with glen johnson as right back

always thought of Richards as a centre half, to me he looks cumbersome and awkward at full back. With De Jong and Kompany in the DM rolls I would have Zabeleta at RB which leaves Micah fighting it out with Dunne Nedum and the left sided Centre Half Hughed brings in in the summer.

agreed.

Got the power to get forward but then does nothing with it and gets caught out of position alot at RB...
Personally, id keep him but cant see him wanting to stay and sit on the bench when we bring better players in.

Re: Glen Johnson, dont rate him tbh and definitely wouldnt pay £12-15 million, would much rather stick with Zab at RB

Personally I would say he's good going forward, it sometimes takes him a while to get back but cut him some slack if he's just dashed 85 yards. His main problem is stopping crosses although in the last couple of games he has done well. Also, remember Zab at RB against West Brom? He had a terrible game, he didn't seem as comfortable as at the beginning of the season.

can we not have both?

Have been really imprssed with Johnson this season..and last season. Hes really progressing and I rate him highly. On top of that, he would be easily `gettable'.
This is a good comment

I agree - I don't think that Zab is that good at right back - he's too slow - I think he's better in midfield - buying Johnson would give us more options - wouldn't get rid of Micah though - that would be folly - he's only 20 and has a lot going for him.

johnson has played well all season, richards has had a couple of good games (probably as its getting near the 'window')
why cant we have them both? if richards goes back to his poor form next year and concentrates on his dj career where will that leave us? we need top class players playing at their best. get him in asap.

Zab is good in midfield but three defensive midfielders?? On the original subject since his training ground bust up with Hughes we have seen the old Richards do or die even getting injured blocking the shot that lead to Irelands goal at Goodison. Against Blackburn he had his best game for a long while long may it continue

Whilst I agree he has been improving and also tracking back more, I am the only one who is incensed by his total lack of concentration at Blackburn's pen? When the pen was taken he wasn't even looking at the play, he was just talking to Dunne (I think it was Dunne at any rate) and neither of them bothered to follow the ball in. Given saved twice but where were our defence? Didn't matter at 3-0 but in a tight game???
